Most people that visit Catalina Island normally stays in Avalon, as a matter of fact as many times as I have been in Catalina Island, this was my first time visiting Two Harbors, I have always stayed in Avalon and although I had heard about Two Harbors, I never thought about visiting.
I am so happy I changed my mind and decided to visit for the day. Two Harbors is a tiny town located on the north west area of Catalina Island. It has a small hotel, two restaurants, one general store and plenty of camping areas. Two Harbors name was given because of the twin harbors that create the isthmus of Catalina.
We left Avalon in the morning via the Cyclone, a boat service provided by Catalina Island Company. You board the Cyclone and then go in the water for 13.4 miles until you arrive to Two Harbors.
Once in Two Harbors you can explore, hike or participate in any of the amazing water adventures available such as kayaking, fishing, snorkeling, stand-up paddling, and SCUBA diving.
You can also enjoy mountain biking or just relax by the beach and have lunch at their newest restaurant Harbor Sands. I can tell you that their menu is good and the food was delicious. We had the following from the restaurant: For appetizers we had the Avocado Ahi Poke and the Calamari Picatta, they were both delicious.
For our main meal we had the Yellow Tail tacos and the Harbor Reef Special (it is a bison burger). They were both fantastic.
Off course no trip to Catalina Island is complete without having the Island traditional cocktail, the Buffalo Milk. It is like dessert with a bit of alcohol.
After our delicious lunch it was time to burn some more calories, so we decided to go explore some more and hike. There are plenty of hike trails, some are easy and some of a little bit harder. If you are up for it, you can hike up the mountain and you might see a bison or a Catalina Fox. The view from up there is beautiful.
As we were leaving on the Cyclone back to Avalon, we noticed a lot of people coming to visit Two Harbors dressed as pirates. They were there for a 3 day event called Buccaneer's Weekend. It looked like they were all ready to party and have fun, so I might need to come back next year for that weekend and see what is all about!

I would love to visit there right now. It is so cold here in Iowa I don't know how I am going to make it another 4 or 5 months of this type of weather. I need to plan a trip out of here!
