One of my favorite things about Halloween in the US is that theme parks and places have great activities for kids during this time of the year. We love visiting SeaWorld because we love learning about the animals and interacting with them. When we got invited this year to attend the media event for Halloween Spooktacular I knew we needed to be there to see all the cool things they have planned this year. After a very delicious breakfast, full of yummy foods and with the quality that SeaWorld always puts on everything they do we went to have close encounters with the ambassador animals and then some fun enjoying the shows and going on the stations for some trick or treat. My son's favorite part was learning about the ambassador animals. It was pretty cool to be able to see so many animals with a close up and have questions answered by the staff. My son loved being able to see the crocodile, owl and the other animals. After leaning so much it was time for a fun day. Trick or treat around the park was fun. It is fun to walk from show to show and collect some candy. And of course the Halloween themed shows are really fun. We might return for some more candy later this season. SeaWorld has a great offer this month. Kids are free with each adult full paid admission. What a great deal! For more information and to buy tickets visit SeaWorld San Diego

When I got the invite to attend Knott's Scary Farm this year, I knew it was going to be fun. A couple of weeks ago during the media event, I learned about the improved and new mazes and they looked really fun. This year after a great reception with great food as usual, we headed to the new attraction Special Ops Infected. The park has been infected and there is an area in quarantine. With the help of your squad leader and an infrared rifle you and your team will be on a mission to protect humanity from zombies, retrieve survivors and become a hero! This is a must do attraction and it was my favorite this year. Something that you want to consider when visiting Scary Farm is to get the Fright Lane with Skeleton key pass which offers unlimited priority access to nine haunted attractions all night long and "opens the doors" to a secret extra room inside of five mazes. It is a great way to ensure you will be able to visit all the mazes and get the most for your money. This year the mazes were improved and some of the new ones were very scary. One of the favorites was The Tooth Fairy, however I will recommend visiting all of them if you have time. As far as the shows go, both shows are highly recommended. The Hanging is really funny, it is the opposite of political correct, but it is that what makes it so good. The stunts are pretty good, the singing is not bad and the jokes are current and to the point. Elvira's Big Top has pretty cool act shows, it is entertaining and funny and the best part you can take a break from standing up, and rest your leg and a comfy seat at the theater. Also, the roller coasters are open, so you can still enjoy the rides and have a super cool experience of riding them at night. The feeling is different, and you are going to love it. Also just walking through the park, on the foggy streets of ghost town, waiting for a monster to come out of nowhere and scare you, makes it going to Scary Farm a great girls night out or a different type of date with your significant other. If you are not familiar with this celebration, let me tell you a little bit about it. Hispanic Heritage Month starts on Monday (September 15th-October 15th) and it is a celebration of Hispanic culture. Music, food and language is the way we celebrate at home. It is hard to cook dishes with latin flavor, but some companies have seasoning products that make it easy. One of these companies is Chef Merito that offers a great line of marinades and spices that help create dishes that taste just as those that I used to eat in Colombia. Chef Merito is a family-owned business.Their products combine only the freshest and highest quality spices and are dedicated to enhance authentic Latin American, Mexican, and Spanish cuisine We have been experiencing a heat wave in California and to take advantage of the weather we decided to have some Carne Asada and some chicken seasoned with Chef Merito. It was a total success. The flavor was just like back at home. Spice Basket Giveaway Good news for My Life is a Journey readers. You could win a basket just like the one I received.
