We travel because we love to experience what the world has to offer. It has become a tradition to looks for activities that are not only fun but also a full adventure. We have become adrenaline junkies and we have found that Catalina Island has plenty of adrenaline inducing activities for us to enjoy.
Just an hour on a boat ride in the Catalina Express from Long Beach you will find Catalina Island; a place where you can relax, party, even have a spa day and off course where you can find plenty of adventures that are designed for those that would like to get out of their comfort zone or those are are already adrenaline junkies. Here it is a list of 6 of our favorite adrenaline releasing adventures in Catalina Island.
1. Zip Line Eco Tour
This is a must do. It is a great place to enjoy ocean views while zip lining and having fun. It is five different lines, the lines start high above Descanso Canyon and come back down to the base right above Descanso Beach. Kids 10 and up who weigh at least 80 lbs can zip solo and kids 5 to 9 can ride tandem with someone 18 or older. Adults and tandem riders cannot weigh more than 235 lbs.
2. Catalina Aerial Adventure
Not only it is an adrenaline inducing activity but is a full work out. You climb, swing and slide from tree to tree on a series of obstacles suspended in a grove of towering eucalyptus. Rappel down the tress, balance your feet to cross hanging bridges and more fun and challenging activities.
3. Rock Climbing Wall
This is a fun activity and also a workout. You need strength to pull yourself out to the top but once you are there your heart will be pumping blood fast. Also remember you go up and then you will have to go down, so the rappel down it is also a full fun experience.
Imagine the feeling when a speed boat pulls you into the bay and gets you soaring with a parachute, towed along behind the boat, cruising the air above the ocean. It is like being in the sky without jumping from an airplane. Great activity to do while exploring Avalon Harbor.
5. Scuba Diving
Catalina is a popular dive spot. There is a dive area at Casino Point Dive Park between Avalon Bay and Descanso Cove. The best thing about scuba diving in Catalina is that they offer other types of "diving" such as the Catalina Sea Trek Tour put on one of their specially designed helmets and walk around under the water with just a little training) and Snuba. Look for those coral reefs and also Garibaldi fish.
6. Catalina Island Hike
Did you know that there are over 37 miles of trail for hikers to explore along the Trans-Catalina Trail. One of our favorites is the hike to Two Harbors. Make sure to stop and take pictures and be on the look out for Buffalos and foxes.
If you are looking for a weekend full of adventure, I would recommend taking the Catalina Express and head to Catalina Island, you will not regret it. The best part? You can also book a spa service for when you are done and tired from your activities.
