If your kid is a gamer, this is something they are going to love. My son and his friend attended last week a preview event and they loved it. Just imagine that you can play minecraft in a movie theater and you meet other gaming friends and can even win prizes. That sounds like a gamer dream, does it?

Did you know that one in five children in America live in a household without consistent access to adequate food? This means that in your child classroom there might be at least one child that might not be fortunate enough to have three meals and snacks available everyday.
Disclosure: I received complementary tickets for this adventure, however all opinions expressed are my own. It has been always on my bucket list. I wanted to go whale watching, and what a better place to go that the Channel Islands National Park waters, where sea creatures live all year long, and also come during their migration to the south. I chose to go with Island Packers, because they have a very knowledgeable crew. We arrived 45 minutes before departure time and were given our tickets to board the boat. While we waited we enjoying the nice weather at Ventura Harbor. If you have never been at Ventura Harbor, you should make sure to visit soon. It is a great place to come for brunch or early dinner. It is small and cozy and has wonderful shops and restaurants. While you wait for the boat you can see all the latest information of whale and dolphin sighting displayed on the wall of Island Packers. I thought it was a nice touch to create excitement of what we could see during our little excursion. When it was time to board the boat, we decided to be up-stairs to get a better view and enjoy the great weather. The boat also has a cabin on the first floor where you can find a small snack station (cash only), and if you get cold is a good place to get a break from the chilly wind. As we were leaving the harbor, the Channel Island Park volunteers gave us a small presentation about whales and sea life and they also had a couple of models for little ones to play with and make the trip not only fun but also educational. The crew at Island Packers is friendly and fun. They actually know the whales and dolphins behavior and they were right on about the spot we needed to be at to be able to see the whales. Pretty much when everyone was almost to the point of getting disappointed, the crew pointed at the first sprout of water, and that could only mean that there was a whale there. The boat got closer, and then we were able to see, not only one, but 6 different whales. We were lucky that 2 of them were showing us all their behaviors and they even jump in front of us (pretty hard to capture with the camera). As we were following the whales, we also go to see a pod of dolphins and sea lions. It was breathtaking. The dolphins like to race the boat and they jump across the ocean and they move further from the boat. If you are taking a whale watching trip here is some advice for a better trip

When I got the email with the invite to attend and cover the strawberry festival I was very happy. We love strawberries and for once we did not have to drive long hours to have some fun. We were ust a few minutes away. The weather was perfect, not too hot not to windy, it is like if the weather gods new that the Strawberry festival was taken place at the city of Oxnard. Last weekend at the annual California Strawberry festival everything was “berry” awesome. The festival is a celebration for the local farmers that want to show case some of the best berries of the planet with some great activities such as live bands, rides for both kids and adults, crafts and off course a great arrangement of everything strawberry foods. A great thing of the festival is that the money raised goes back to the local community to be able to support projects that benefit the farmers. So pretty much with your attendance you are supporting the farmers besides having fun. Things to do a the festival 1. Enjoy the rides: At a very affordable price, only $1 dollar a ride you and your kids can enjoy the rides. Try to get on the early as lines can get longer as the festival gets crowded. There are a couple of activities that cost extra money such as the zip line and the Bungee Jumping 2. Participate on the Strawberry Tart Toss: only a few bucks to throw the tarts and free to get tarts tossed at you. 3. Story time 4. Eat and indulge on a variety of fair style foods and all things strawberry such as Strawberry Nachos, Strawberry Pizza, Funnel Cakes and chocolate dipped strawberries 5. Build your own strawberry shortcake 6. Enjoy all the adult beverage available: Champagne, margaritas, beer and wine. 7. Enjoy the Strawberry Lemonade and smoothies 8. Meet Strawberry Shortcake and get a friendship bracelet from her 9. Watch the Berry Best Dressed Contest 10. Take some fresh picked strawberries home: they are sold by the basket or the flat. The California Strawberry Festival is a great family-friendly event and if you are in the area next year you should visit, because I am sure you will have the "Berry" best time!
