Zion National Park

One of my favorite trips this year was the road trip to Utah and our visit to Zion National Park. I have seen it several times in the movies, but I cannot even describe how beautiful it is in person. The views are breathtaking and I think everyone should consider visiting the park at least once in their lives.

This is a great place to go camping with the family or if you are not the camping type, just taking a day trip and sleeping in one of the near by hotels is another option. Before you get to the park make sure you get plenty of food and water. There are some restaurants, but once you start hiking, you want to make sure you have all your supplies with you. Also make sure you have comfortable clothes and shoes.

What you need to know about Zion National Park

• All park visitors are required to purchase a recreational use pass.
• A private vehicle pass is $30 and it is valid for 7 days
• If you are on bicycle or walking you can buy a pass for $15, valid for 7 days
• Children under 15 years old are admitted free
• From November to March, you are allowed to drive in the Canyon and can park in any of the parking lots for free.
• From April to October, cars are not permitted to drive through Zion Canyon
• Any overnight stay in the Zion Wilderness requires a permit; day hikes do not, with the exception of The Narrows day hike. (Hiking in The Narrows upstream as far as Big Spring does not require a permit.)
• You should check weather conditions and be attentive for flooding warnings.

Zion National Park Shuttle

The Shuttle service starts at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center and from there it takes visitors on a scenic ride up Zion's main canyon. It makes several stops at interesting locations and trails and you can get off or hop on as many times as you want. The Shuttle stops at nine locations and it runs frequently during the day. The use of the shuttle is free.

The Views

Zion National Park has probably some of the most scenic canyon county trails in The United States. The views are just amazing. You can enjoy a maze of narrow and deep sandstone canyons. You will be also able to see wildlife and a great variety of plants.

Temple of Sinawava

My favorite stop is at the end of the line for the shuttle. Once you get off the shuttle you can use the restroom, refill your water bottle and get to explore following the river trail. a beautifully quiet spot where everybody will want to get out and take a stroll to the river. This is the start of the famous Zion Narrows, where the views as you can see in the pictures below are amazing. 

If you are looking for a cool road trip to take with the family I sure recommend visiting Zion National Park. Make sure you pack your camera, because you do not want to miss the opportunity to capture the amazing views.
