We were invited to attend the virtual press junket for the upcoming Netflix movie We Can Be Heroes. We had the pleasure to interview two young actresses, Yaya Gosselin (Missy) and Vivien Lyra Blair (Guppy). We Can Be Heroes, which premiers on Netflix on December 25, 2020. About the movieWhen alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their kids are whisked away to a government safe house. But whip-smart tween Missy Moreno (Yaya Gosselin) will stop at nothing to rescue her superhero dad, Marcus Moreno (Pedro Pascal). Missy teams up with the rest of the superkids to escape their mysterious government babysitter, Ms. Granada (Priyanka Chopra Jonas). If they’re going to save their parents, they’ll have to work together by using their individual powers — from elasticity to time control to predicting the future — and form an out-of-this-world team. Full of action and heart, WE CAN BE HEROES is directed by Robert Rodriguez (SPY KIDS, THE ADVENTURES OF SHARKBOY AND LAVAGIRL) and also stars Boyd Holbrook, Christian Slater, Chris McDonald, and Adriana Barraza. Watch a trailerVirtual press junketQ: How was the the audition process. Did you audition for the role that you are playing? How did you hear that you were selected for the role? A: Yaya Gosselin: said she was in LA when she got the audition, and she did it at Betty Mae Casting. After the audition she did not hear anything for a month, and she thought, she didn't get it and moved on, because she is used to things like this happening in the industry. Then about a month later, her mom got an email to meet Robert, the director, and then it went from there. She was excited to land the role. Vivien said she also had the audition at Betty Mae and found out she got the role on the same night she passed her belt testing. She said was a great day and they all celebrate. Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why? A. Yaya Gosselin: I think my superpower would be able to heal people because I feel like right now, with everybody being so sick, I think that’s what we need most in the world, and I feel like that would be a really cool superpower. Q: Did you do your own stunts? Vivien Lyra Blair: Yes, I did do my own stunts, and I did all of my own stunts, and they were really fun. Did you know that the first two weeks were just stunts? Just all of us doing all of our stunts and practicing, and there were harnesses everywhere, and it was so fun. I really liked it a lot. Yaya Gosselin: Yes, and then I did my own stunts too. My stunts were also very fun. I had never been in a harness before, so it was definitely a new experience and very fun to learn how to use those. This is a movie that will teach your kids that heroes come in all shapes and sizes and that teamwork is very important. It is for sure a great movie to watch with the kids during the winter break.
