Tips For Staying Strong When Life Throws You Curveballs
Life is full of ups and downs, and good times and bad times. The truth is that some events and circumstances are simply out of your control. There are some moments when your life can be a joyful ride and other moments where life and your days can be downright challenging. You may end up experiencing setbacks along the way too.

What you don’t want to do is give up trying or give up on yourself. Stay hopeful that with the right mindset and approach and with enough time you can reset and feel happy and motivated again. Here are some tips for staying strong when life throws you curveballs and makes you feel like quitting. 

Practice Acceptance

One way to stay strong when life throws you curveballs or becomes uncertain is to practice acceptance of what the situation is. Avoid trying to ignore it or sugarcoat it and instead embrace it and accept it head-on. Face the matter and don’t try to talk yourself into feeling one way or another for the time being. Let it play out and in the meantime focus on yourself and take good care of yourself. The quicker you accept what’s happening and what you’re dealing with, the quicker you can problem-solve it and move forward. There will always be highs and lows and both the good and bad times are temporary so keep your energy focused on what’s in your control

Be Accepting of Change

Change can be scary but it’s also a natural and necessary part of life. It can be especially difficult for people who always live routinely and play it safe. You may not like it or feel comfortable with it but the reality is that change is inevitable. There is no way around it and it’s going to happen no matter how hard you try to fight it. Be accepting of change and welcome it with open arms. It may help to read daily affirmations to stay strong or you can read books that talk about change and how to go with it and not against it. Keep in mind that life is not a linear journey and is made up of ebbs and flows. ​

You should never feel like you’re all alone when there’s an issue going on or that you have no options for how to move forward. You’re not the first or only one who has been in your position and you have to remember this as you figure out a game plan. There are many different reasons you may be feeling confused, down, or uneasy about the future. It may be that you lost your job or that you are going through a divorce and are now going to be a single mom. The upside is that you can find and join mom support groups near me where you can connect with other women who are in a similar situation and who can listen to your concerns or offer you advice.

Alternatively, you could be struggling with an addiction. If that’s the case, then you might want to find inpatient rehab services local to your area. Many people who struggle with addiction will only beat it through professional support as well as the right shoulders to lean on from friends and family members. ​

Practice Self-Care

When life throws you curveballs you should focus on ramping up your self-care practices. There’s nothing more important than taking good care of yourself and feeling great mentally and physically when you're facing various struggles. Make sure that you engage in activities such as working out and breaking a sweat, eating healthily, and journaling or meditating. You’ll not only feel better but will be able to build and boost your confidence in the process.
It’s an effective way to reset and gain clarity and feel at ease even though your circumstances might not be pleasant or what you had hoped.

Stay strong when life throws you curveballs by sticking to a bedtime routine and choosing to rest or stay in instead of always going out and being social. It’s okay to spend time alone and process what’s on your plate before you make a move or decide how to proceed. Get comfortable with and in your feelings and find positive outlets for them so that you can fall and stay asleep. Consider drinking tea, taking breaks from technology, and spending time in nature to get some fresh air if you find you’re having trouble sleeping. ​

Revisit Your Goals & Make A Plan

You may have had a vision of how you wanted your life to go and play out and maybe it’s not what’s happening for you. Although it can be tough you must stay strong for yourself and your loved ones. Now might be a good time to revisit your goals and go back to the drawing board and come up with a new game plan you feel excited about. When life throws you curveballs you can take a step back and re-evaluate so that you can proceed in a way that is best for you and fits your new set of goals and dreams.

Sadly, many people allow themselves to go into isolation when they experience setbacks, never to get back on track to fulfill their dreams. It doesn't matter what your dreams are, whether it is enrolling at the CalArts School for Theater to work under Travis Preston or becoming a product developer for Apple. Avoid worrying so much about what may or may not be because no one can predict the future. All you have to do is worry about today and focus on putting your best foot forward and maintaining an optimistic outlook in the face of adversity.
