The Weekly Chancletazo

Starting today My Life is a Journey will have a new weekly feature. The Weekly Chancletazo. Yes, I will watching the news, reading the papers and browsing the web looking for that actor, actress, politician or public figure that did something so bad that deserves a chancletazo or a "pela" (punishment).

Now it is time for all of you to learn what a chancletazo is....

What is a chancletazo?

La Chancla is a flip flop. Latinos tend to wear chanclas around the house all day long, and then change into shoes when we are leaving the house.

El chancletazo is a way of corporal punishment (una pela) used to develop good behavior and avoid discipline problems. Moms and grandmas are very skilled with La chancla and they are able to take them off really quick to solve the situation. Most times after one of two chancletazos you have leaned the power and the chancla and the threat of your mom removing the chancla from her foot is enough to stop the bad behavior.

Now that you know about la chancla, it is time to give the award for this week. In case it has not been clear, this is NOT the award you want to get. If you deserve a "pela" you are being bad. Behave people, you do not want to end up being on this page.

Talk show host Rodner Figueroa was fired from Univision after saying that Michelle Obama looks like someone from the cast of "Planet of the Apes."


Come on people, haven't you learn that when you work on TV you need to watch your words. Once is out there you cannot take it back. Regardless of what you think, you need to be aware of your words because they cannot offend a lot of people.


Also we are all tired of the disrespect towards the President and his family.
