The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run

We attended the event and watched a screening of the movie as guest of Paramount. All opinions are our own.

We were supposed to get the movie release last year, but we all know how things go turned upside down. Finally Paramount is releasing SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the run exclusively on their new platform Paramount +.

About the movie

SpongeBob SquarePants, his best friend Patrick, and the Bikini Bottom gang star in their most epic adventure movie yet! When SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary goes missing, a path of clues leads SpongeBob and Patrick to the powerful King Poseidon, who has Gary held captive in the Lost City of Atlantic City. On their mission to save Gary, SpongeBob and his pals team up for a heroic and hilarious journey where they discover nothing is stronger than the power of friendship.

Did we like it?

The movie is a whole mess, but it is what is expected of Sponge Bob. If you have seen the cartoons before, you know that they are all over the place, and that is what makes it funnier. There is some dark humor there too. I think this movie is more for older kids and adults. There are surprise cast celebrity appearances, and I loved the music.

The animation is great, that and the movie score are the best part for me, but I am sure older kits will enjoy all the jokes and craziness happening. It is Sponge Bob after all.

Drive thru event

We were invited to be part of the Drive-Through & Drive-In Screening at Rose Bowl Stadium and let me tell you that we had so much fun with the interactive experience. We were transported under sea to Bikini Bottom and kept safe on a bubble, while we interacted with Sponge Bob, Patrick and also got to see some of the cute Kamp Koral facilities.

After that we were transported back and we got some snacks and watched the movie. It was such a great day!
