The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Cupcakes

I do not know about you, but m family think that these cupcakes are the perfect sweet treat  to enjoy while you watch The Falcon and the Winter Soldier now streaming on Disney+.

Ingredients

Marvel Sprinkles Ingredients

• 1 pkg Red Wilton sprinkles pack 
• 1 pkg Silver Wilton sprinkles pack 
• 1 pkg Black Wilton sprinkles pack

​Fondant Ears and Bow Ingredients

• 1 package of black fondant
• 1 package of gray fondant 
• 1 package red fondant
• 1 can of red cake spray 
• 1 can of silver cake spray 
• Wilton fondant bow mold
• 3-inch circle fondant cutter
• 1-inch star stencil 
• 1 tube of red cookie icing 
• disposable piping bag with #2 tip

Falcon and Winter Soldier Cupcake Ingredients

• 1 box of chocolate cake mix
• 3 large eggs room temp
• 1/2 cup of softened unsalted sweet cream butter
• 1 1/4 cups whole milk
• cupcake liners
• cupcake pan

Vanilla Frosting Ingredients

• 1 1/2 cups unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
• 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
• 5-7 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
• 2 tsp. Pure vanilla extract
• 1 large piping bag with large star tip
• 1 medium ice cream scooper

Preparation

Marvel Sprinkles 

• Combine all sprinkles packages into a large bowl and mix.

Fondant Ears and Bow

1. Sprinkle some powder sugar onto a cutting board.
2. Roll out the black and gray fondant into 1/4 inch thickness and cut out 24 3-in circles of each fondant for the ears. This will give you 48 circles total, 24 black and 24 gray.
3. Using the silver cake spray, spray the circles to give a shimmering effect.
4. Using the gray fondant circles, place the star stencil over the circles and lightly spray the red cake spray. 
5. Allow stars to dry. 
6. Squeeze the red cookie icing into the piping bag. 
7. Using the red icing, pipe out the Falcon's logo on the black fondant circles.
8. Allow black fondant circles to dry overnight.

Making the Bows

1. Powder your hands with powder sugar and mold the red fondant into a ball
2. Pinch off 1 teaspoon size ball of fondant and press it into the larger bow size mold
3. Make 22 bows then set them aside to dry out overnight

Vanilla Frosting 

1. Using a standing mixer combine the butter, powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream, vanilla and mix on medium speed until combined and smooth.
2. Scoop 1 cup of frosting into the piping bag

Falcon and Winter Soldier Cupcakes

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a cupcake pan with the cupcake liners.
2. In a medium bowl, beat the cake mix, eggs, butter, and milk until smooth and combined.
3. Fill cupcake liners 3/4 of the way full.
4. Bake in the oven for about 21 minutes.
5. Pull out the cupcakes and allow them to cool before frosting.

Cupcake Decorating

1. Using the ice cream scooper, scoop out a small amount of frosting onto the top of the cupcake. 
2. Use a knife and spread the frosting into a thick disk. 
3. Coat the frosting in the sprinkle mixture.
4. Pipe a dollop of frosting into the middle.
5. Carefully place a red bow in the center of the frosting.
6. Carefully place two “ears” (one of each fondant circle) on the sides of the bow
