We all know that being active (exercise) and eating healthy are very important foundations of being healthy. It is not only about the way we look anymore, it is also about avoiding being sick and making sure we live a comfortable life.

As much as I would like to be active, there is couple (sometimes more) days a month that I am in discomfort and swollen and I really do not even want to get up of bed. These symptoms are all menstrual-related breast discomfort. I want to share with you what I do to try to stay healthy even during those days of the month.

What I am going to tell you here is not medical advice. You should visit a doctor to get any medication and make sure the symptoms are not caused by something serious.

What has worked for me is
  1. Stay hydrated. Although they symptoms are caused by fluid retention due to the hormones during your period, if you drink a lot of water your kidneys will work to eliminate the water you are drinking and that will help reduce the swelling.
  2. Keep active: yes I know you want to stay under the blankets and you do not want to move a muscle, however being active will help pump your metabolism and blood and will help reduce the cramping
  3. Cold compresses, they might not feel great at first but they help reduce the soreness and also will help with the swelling.
  4. Eating healthy: normally everyday, but during that time of the month I really try to avoid complex carbohydrates, fats and heavy foods that will increase the swelling.
I am also really excited that I am going to get to try Violet Iodine and I have heard that it helps to reduce the breast soreness and pain. Violet iodine is a molecular iodine supplement that, when taken daily, alleviates the most common symptoms of premenstrual breast discomfort, including swelling, tenderness, aches and heaviness and it promotes optimal breast health. Visit VioletDaily.com for more information.

I will update once I finish my trail pack to see if it has helped me. Stay tuned!
