Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker movie review

The end of the Skywalker Saga has arrived. We all have waited 42 years for this. I was just a toddler when the first movie came out back on May 25th, 1977, however having an older brother made me a fan once I was old enough to enjoy the films. Now the question we all have is it really the end and what happens during the very anticipated movie. Keep reading and see if we liked the movie.

About the movie

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker takes place about a year after the events of The Last Jedi. Supreme Leader Snoke is dead and now Kylo Ren has taken his place. Rey is busy training to become a Jedi while the rest of The Resistance prepares for battle against The First Order. News has spread throughout the galaxy that Emperor Palpatine has risen, presenting a new threat to our heroes.

Did we like it?

We liked it but we didn't love it. I think it was a good nostalgic way to end the saga, however I felt that there were too many things packed into the 2 hours and 22 minutes for the movie. 

The story answers some of our questions. I won’t give you any spoilers but we will learn things like ….Rey’s past, which side does Kylo Ren truly stand, and  does Rey goes into the Dark Side?  

The story does something great thought. It brings back so many momentos from other movies, bring back old characters and gives the perfect ending to Leia as part of the story. We all needed that last good bye from her.

However, the story tries to included the character development that the previous movies lacked and it felt rushed. As a true Star Wars fan, I was a little dissapointed. Don't get me wrong, I still liked the movie, but I was waiting so much more for the last episode. Maybe I am comparing it with the amazing job Marvel did with Avengers. 

I did fell in love with the new droid D-O and some of the new characters were good additions to the story, but I feel I was let down. It has been 42 years in the making and although a good movie it was not an amazing movie. Now to wait and see what new story for Star Wars is going to be Disney and Lucas Film going to bring to us.
