Spring Menu At Lazy Dog Restaurants

Just last week, my son  and I visited the Oxnard Lazy Dog location for a media tasting. Meaning they comped our meal to facilitate this post. However, as usual all opinions are my own.

We started our meal with some appetizers. My son chose the bacon n egg mac n cheese (weekend brunch only) consisted of  bacon, hatch chiles, five cheeses, buttermilk biscuit crumble, a fried egg and parsley. I chose the Street Corn Wheels (lime, garlic, queso blanco, tajin, cilantro). They were both delicious. I really enjoyed the tajin on the corn.

As I enjoyed my mother-son dinner date I ordered some drinks. You already know I love tequila so it is not surprising that I ordered the Watermelon Margarita.

It was time to choose our entrees. So many delicious choices for the new Spring menu such as:

• Burrata and roasted beet salad (creamy burrata cheese, field greens, candied walnuts, heirloom tomatoes, crushed sweet peaches, sea salt)
• BBQ veggie burger made from scratch with black beans, ancient grains and vegetables, topped with roasted garlic, BBQ sauce, jack cheese, fried onions, pickle, tomato
• Burrata and heirloom tomato crisp (pomodoro sauce, pesto, creamy burrata, parmesan, romano, balsamic reduction, chili oil, basil veggie burger bowl avocado, baby kale, black sesame seeds, marinated tomatoes, lentils, roasted red peppers, spicy carrots, lemon vinaigrette, tahini sauce on the side)

However, our choices were more on the meat side, so we chose the following

• Grilled lemon chicken (marinated and grilled chicken breast, cauliflower mash, sautéed green beans + heirloom tomatoes, almond-walnut crumble, tahini )
• Steak and eggs benedict (weekend brunch only) (certified angus beef® flat iron, poached eggs, sautéed bell peppers, onions, tomato, gravy, smoked paprika hollandaise, cilantro, served on smashed hushpuppies).

OMG they were so good and very big portions, we actually had to ask to a to go box and brought some home to take to work the following day.

Going on mother-son dates is a great way to get your teen talking. It is so important to have those bonding moments. He opened up about his friends and we talked as we eat our delicious dinner. I felt so relaxed that I ordered another drink. This time I went for the ​huckleberry mule (born & bred american craft vodka, ginger beer, huckleberry purée, lemon, soda)

It was time for dessert, and although we were full, we knew we wanted to try them, because they sounded delicious on paper. We totally recommend ordering dessert.
My son went for the peach raspberry hand pie (raspberry purée, sweet peaches, cinnamon, sugar, salted caramel sauce, vanilla bean ice cream). I decided to choose the lemon cake (lemon buttercream, almond flour vanilla cake, huckleberry, lemon curd, whipped cream).

After dinner we decided to take a stroll by the stores at The Collection. We just love that our local Lazy Dog is located in such a beautiful place. It is just so easy to have dinner and a movie, or dinner and shopping. We will be back soon, probably for brunch and this time we will take our dogs, because let's not forget that they have a great patio where you can take your fury babies and they even have a menu for them.
