Quick and easy summer snacks

Staying home has been a challenge in so many ways. A big one for us have been eating more things at home. we have been preparing a lot of food at home, but during summer we really do not feel like cooking. Here are some of the easy and refreshing snacks we have been enjoying this summer. 

We normally shop at Smart & Final because the prices are great but also because in one trip we pretty much get all our grocery needs. Also their First Street brand is great and affordable.

Yogurt and fruit

Pick your favorite yogurt flavor and mix it with your favorite fruit. We love the vanilla yogurt because it pretty much goes with everything. My son really loves it with berries. 

Lox Bagel

During summer months we do not always toast the bagel, so it is a cooler snack. Best part? It is good at any time of the day. Bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon. Delicious

Potato Mochi

Potato mochi does involve a little more work than some of the other ideas on this list, but once you try it, you’ll realize it’s well worth it. Chewy and savory, this is the kind of snack you’ll keep going back to. ​

Cream cheese and pepperoni appetizers

No need to think over a snack when you are hungry. Just grab some crackers, cream cheese and pepperoni. Or to save some carbs, replace crackers for cucumber slices. It is easy to prepare and so delicious.

Root beer float

You know when you are hot you want something cold. Something with bubbles is better and it you add some ice cream it is not only refreshing but a great treat. We use regular root beer for the boys and diet root beer for me. If you want to change it up, change the soda base for some cream soda or change the ice cream flavor from vanilla to maybe peach. Yummy.

Although we make these snacks for summer, you can actually eat them all year long. You do not need an oven to make any and they are all fresh. The possibilities after shopping at Smart & Final are endless.
