We received a copy of the game to facilitate this review. All opinions, typos, and grammatical errors are our own. My son got a Nintendo Switch for the holidays. We are late to the party, because all his friends had the Switch for a while now, so he asked is friends what were good games to play and they recommended Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Below is the review from my 14 year old son. Pokémon Sword and Shield is a blast to play with its new innovating game mechanics and great story. The newest game in the series is a bit of a depart from previous games but overall keeps the magic and replay ability of previous games. The newest game of the franchise with it being a Nintendo Switch game allows it to be both played on both your tv and on the go, this allows for a great versatility in-game with the mechanics of the Joy-Cons having use in the new Pokémon camping in which you set up camp and can play with your Pokémon or feed them using curry. The game takes inspiration from England quite heavily with geography and English slang being used quite abundantly which makes the game feel cozy but not cramped With the newest games come new battle mechanics the biggest one though is Dynamax where your Pokémon transforms into a giant version of itself and certain Pokémon and Gigantamax where they don’t only become larger but allows for special moves and look completely different. The ability only last three turns and can only be used once in battle though so you must strategize when you want to use it. The new revamped gym system is also great with their being a not so linear progression to each area as it would be in real life the game is set up where you have to backtrack and go into places you aren’t ready for but in a way where you won’t get defeated immediately and makes it easy to avoid these Pokémon. The Gym system is also much more professional compared to the other games and much more like and official tournament rather than obstacles in your way to the Champion. The newest Legendaries are also very interesting as the lore and story setup thought the game is very easy to navigate but you can encounter and discover things on your own. Overall the newest game in the franchise is quite possibly the best one yet as in my opinion it encompasses what Pokémon represents. My son really likes the game and if you want to get yours using our affiliated link below, you would be supporting our love for video games

Is this game ok to give a 6 year old, or is it too violent?

I asked my son, as he is the expert with video games and he said if the kid watches Pokemon show, then the game is ok for them.
