Our visit to Universal Studios - Hollywood.

_  I had won some tickets from @citywalk on twitter and decided to wait until Christmas to take my son for the first time to Universal Studios. Universal Studios Hollywood have a very special event for this time of the year that  includes a lively holiday season with the Grinch, his faithful dog Max, tons of fresh snow, and a “Whoville Whobilation" celebration.

It had been more than 7 years since I visited Universal Studios last. Going this time was like going for the first time. The old rides and shows such as E.T, Back to the Future and The Spiderman Show are not there anymore. It was really nice to see that Universal has new rides and it was great to experience the rides for the first time with my son.

Since he is just 6, I knew there were going to be some rides I was not going to be able to enjoy such as The Mummy and Jurassic Park, so I am hoping for a near future trip with another grown up that can watch Nicolas while I enjoy those rides next time.

We got there really early and took the Studio Tour. No waiting in line since we were almost the first people at the park. It is really nice to see the new King Kong and the new additions to the tours. Then we went to Terminator. My son has never heard about the movie but he was entertained with all the shooting and sounds.

It was time to try The Simpsons. A virtual roller coaster. Nicolas was not sure about it, but he enjoyed a lot. Nice improvement for the Back to the Future ride and very appropriate for the young kids that are afraid of riding real roller coasters.

We also saw the Animal show, Shrek on 4-D and of course played in the Curious George playground.

We got to take pics with The Grinch and play in the snow.

The food was great Mexican and the souvenir Sponge Bob cup with $0.99 refills was great for the refreshments for the day.

I was not sure about going to Universal with a young child, and I am glad we waited until he is almost seven so he could enjoy most rides, but for sure we will be back after they open Transformers ride on spring 2012
