Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post for Whole Foods Market Santa Barbara. All opinions expressed are my own I was lucky to be invited (and to be able to attend) the One Wine Spring Release Party event in Santa Barbara Whole Foods on April 2nd from 6-8 pm. I am not a wine drinker, but once in a while I like to try new wines and I love all the food pairings that are associated with wine. So this event was perfect for a date night with hubby. So we drove up the coast to Santa Barbara enjoying the ocean and very nice day out. We got to Whole Foods Santa Barbara and saw the cute inside place named the Buzz Hive, where the event was going to take place. There was plenty of yummy food and of course wine for the tasting. We learned that Whole Foods and local winemakers share the fruits of their labor via One Wine label custom blended wines. The One Wine label is a unique collaboration between Whole Foods Market and local winemakers, stemming from Whole Foods Market’s commitment to supporting local communities and providing customers with products that celebrate the places and stories from which they are created. The One Wine label started in 2011 as a partnership with two wineries in Southern California, and has since blossomed into a mutually beneficial, creative and delectable partnership between Whole Foods Market and over ten of Southern California’s best winemakers. Participating One Wine wineries include Ampelos Cellars, Au Bon Climat Winery, Clendenen Family Winery, Fallbrook Winery, Happy Canyon Vineyards, Hearst Ranch Winery, Hitching Post Winery, Margerum Wineries and South Coast Winery. We were able to try some of them and they were good. Let me give you a little review of each one: One Wine Hearst Ranch Rosé This blend has bright, red cherry and blueberry aromas and flavors abound, with whiffs of smoke and white pepper on the finish. It sizzles with backyard barbeque fare, especially beef. One Wine Ampelos Rosé Its wild strawberry & watermelon flavors boldly flirt with the palate, while white pepper & bright acidity seal the deal, making this a superb match for salmon sashimi, quiche, Greek salads and other light Mediterranean fare. One Wine Margerum Rosé This is a sensational blend, a lip-smacking Rhone-style Rose. It's bursting with juicy, wild strawberry flavors & a dash of white pepper, delicious by itself or with a variety of festive fare! One Wine Margerum White Blend This is a crisp, citrusy Sauv Blanc with Riesling's apple & pear flavors, with some Chenin Blanc lending body, and a balance and hints of honey on the finish. Great wine for salmon, sashimi, seared scallops or shrimp with lemon-pepper butter. One Wine Sextant Zinfandel A blend of black, blue & red berry fruit here. It is juicy and smooth, but not too sweet . A nicely chewy finish with hints of toasty oak give you all the more reason to sink your teeth into a grilled bison burger or juicy rack of ribs! The event also included great food and the new sandwiches available at the menu at the Buzz Hive, and I can tell you we will be returning for some food pretty soon because all was not only very well presented but delicious. One Wine is produced in limited quantities due to the specialized blends. Check your nearest Whole Foods Market store in Southern California to pick up the latest One Wine selections.
