We are getting closer to Halloween and we need movies to get into the spirit, and off course Netflix is here to keep us entertained. An original Netflix movie, Nightbooks, it is the prefect spooky Halloween movie to enjoy with kids 8 and above. About the movieAlex (Winslow Fegley) is a creative boy with a strong passion for writing scary stories. But when he's labeled weird and rejected for what he likes, he swears he'll never write again. That’s when an evil witch (Krysten Ritter), captures him in her magical apartment in New York City and demands that he tell her a new tale every night if he wants to stay alive. Trapped inside with Lenore, the witch’s spiteful cat watching his every move, Alex meets Yasmin (Lidya Jewett), another young prisoner who has learned how to survive the witch's wicked whims. With Yasmin’s help, Alex must learn to embrace what makes him unique — his love for scary stories — and rewrite his own destiny to break them free. Watch a trailerDid we like it?The movie is based on the thickety series by J.A. White and I think that the age group to enjoy this movie matches the age group for the books, kids from 8 to 12 years. As an adult, I enjoyed it, but if wasn't scary for me. My niece is 7 and she liked the movie, was a little jumpy for some scenes and she now wants to read the books. so that is always a plus. Good acting, good special effects. Virtual Press JunketI was part of the virtual junket and was able to interview Krysten Ritter. She told us she was still breastfeeding during filming and they had to modify a little all the costumes from the movie, that way it was easy for her to go feed the baby. We also learned that the movie was filmed during COVID, which made the filming a bit different, but even like that they tried to celebrate Halloween (movie was filmed during the Fall, 2020) Here is the interview for you: Learn more about the movie here: www.netflix.com/Nightbooks
