Minnie Mouse Reindeer Cupcakes

I love Disney and I love this time of the year when we decorate for the holidays and everything is so festive. So how about putting together two things I love and treat the kids (and adults) to a sweet and very cute treat?

I was in the mood for some sweets and decided to get creative mixing up my love for all things Disney and for Christmas. Here it is what I came out with: Minnie Mouse Reindeer Cupcakes.

Ingredients

For the fondant

• 1 package of Wilton Red Fondant
• 1 package of Wilton Green Fondant
• 1 2 in round fondant cutter
• 1 rolling pin
• 1 cookie sheet with silicone mat
• 1 wilton bow fondant mold

For the cupcakes

• 1 box of chocolate cake mix
• 1 ¼  C of whole milk
• ½ C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
• 3 large eggs
• Vanilla frosting
• 1 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
• 3 C powdered sugar
• 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
• 3-5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
• 1 package of red, gold, green and white sprinkles (Mix into a bowl)
• 1 large piping bag with a star tip
• 1 package of wilton royal icing reindeer antlers

Preparation

For the fondant

1. Sprinkle some cornstarch onto the cutting board
   
2. Remove the green fondant from the package and knead onto the cutting board to make the fondant soft and workable
   
3. Sprinkle some more cornstarch onto the cutting board and roll the fondant into ¼ inch thick
   
4. Using the round fondant cutter, cut out 36 round circles
   
5. Place them onto the cookie sheet
   
6. Work the red fondant to where it becomes soft
   
7. Pinch off about 1 tbsp of the red fondant and mold it into the medium size bow
   
8. Remove and place onto the cookie sheet
   
9. Once all fondant pieces have been cut and molded, place the cookie​ sheet onto the counter to air dry overnight

For the cupcakes

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a cupcake pan with liners
   
2. Using a large bowl, beat together the cake mix, milk, butter and eggs until combined and smooth
   
3. Fill the cupcake liners ¾ way full
   
4. Bake in the oven for 21 minutes. Allow to cool completely
   
5. Frosting directions
   Using a standing mixer, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream until combined, smooth and stiff. Scoop the frosting into the piping bag
   Using the frosting, pipe two rings of frosting around the edge
   In a medium bowl, combine the different colored sprinkles
   Dip the frosting into the sprinkle mixture
   Using the piping bag, pipe a dollop of frosting into the middle
   Carefully pick up the red fondant bow
   Place into the middle of the frosting
   Place two green circles behind the bow
   Place two antlers in between the bow and the ears
