By Nikki Diaz “In Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Maleficent and her goddaughter Aurora begin to question the complex family ties that bind them as they are pulled in different directions by impending nuptials unexpected allies and dark new forces at play!” I was honored to act as contributor and attend the press junket for Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil. I’m already a Maleficent fan so this was right up my alley. We got to chat with the actors from the movie and there was so many amazing tidbits that we’ve learned. But don’t worry, I’m not going to give any spoilers away. Not this time at least! The cast was asked what item from set would they have kept if given the opportunity. Angelina Jolie replied “I took my staff... it goes into the children’s room and then I don’t know where it actually is right now.” The moms in attendance laughed in solidarity, I suppose we know what that is like. Sam Riley, who plays Diaval in the film, admits to keeping ”a bag of feathers...Sometimes people write to me and I send them feathers back.” Try your luck! Let us know if you get one of Diaval’s feathers back. The cast explains that filming was basically a blast. They obviously work well together. But it was not without some consequence. Harnessed to a pulley to simulate flight with horns and wings is a dangerous job, there were some tangles and and bumps along the way but you would never know it after seeing the final product. My favorite part of the junket was something that Elle Fanning touched on. “A lot films Aurora is in armor and fighting and that makes her strong... that’s not Aurora’s true nature and I love that she symbolizes that. We get to show the strength in accepting your femininity and Aurora does it in a pink dress. Very bad ass!” As someone that considers herself as traditional and feminine, it really resonated with me. And I loved it. All in all, such a great experience for me and I can’t wait for you all to see this incredible second installment of Maleficent! Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil swoops into theaters every October 18th!
