El Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the dead) is a Mexican holiday where families get together to pray and to remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.
Although I am not Mexican, I have learned to love this tradition and love celebrating it with my son. This year we have decided to decorate the house with sugar skulls, make an altar with food and also wear a mask to celebrate.
Making a catrina mask to celebrate Dia de los Muertos is very easy and it is an activity that kids will enjoy. Not only they will have fun in the process but they will also be able to eat some of the materials used for this craft.
You are going to need the following
Once you have all the materials the construction is really simple. You color the catrina with the crayons and also glue the cereal to the paper. Let it dry.
After it is dry you can glue a wood stick or a pen to the back so it easy to hold the mask in front of your face.
The video below shows you how easy is to make your mask. Now you are ready to enjoy el Dia de los Muertos in style.
