Loving movie review

I like action movies, but I always love a good drama movie. I can tell you that Loving is a movie that you want to see, not only because of the story, which is based on a real life event, but also because the acting is really good.

About the movie

​From acclaimed writer/director Jeff Nichols, “Loving” celebrates the real-life courage and commitment of an interracial couple, Richard and Mildred Loving (Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry – and their love story has become an inspiration to couples ever since.

Did we like it?

I did not know a lot about the actual story, but the movie made me want to read about it. The acting is awesome, the story is great, and you will shed some tears while on the theater. In a moment when the county is having so many civil right issues, this is a movie that even teenager kids should watch. I will be heading back to theaters with the family to watch it again soon. It is a movie that proves that love can change everything and love is possible.

• Loving is a movie where silences are necessary and the movie is told with actions and not dialogues 
• Ruth Negga fell in love with Richard and Mildred
• Loving is a story of ordinary people with an extraordinary love that charged the world
• The movie based on the case Loving vs Virginia (June 12, 1967) where the US Supreme Court ruled that interracial marriage is not a danger for the state or its people. Marriage is an inherent right.
• Mildred Loving passed away in 2008. Before she passed away she spoke of her late husband and said:  "I miss him, he took care of me".
• Due to the story, the slogan of Virginia is "Virginia is for lovers"
• June 12th is Loving Day, the annual remembrance of the Supreme Court ruling.
