Loki on Disney+ June 9th (plus Loki Cupcakes)

Loki will be on Disney+ tomorrow June 9th so get your popcorn and family ready for this mischievous adventure, because Disney+ has done it again, it is bringing a great Marvel series for us to enjoy.

About Loki

Marvel Studios’ “Loki” features the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new Disney+ series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” Tom Hiddleston returns as the title character, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. Kate Herron directs “Loki,” and Michael Waldron is head writer. ​

Did we like it?

We did. We were able to screen the first two episodes and without spoilers, we can tell you that the series is going to be packed with great action scenes and with the sarcastic humor we love from Marvel. The characters are were developed and I am very pleased with Owen Wilson character and acting. 

Tom Hiddleston is brilliant in his role and once again shows us he is the perfect person to play Loki, and with the first scene that take us back to the Avengers Endgame, you know we are in for a treat. As usual no spoilers but just know that Loki will keep you entertained. 

I do not recommend the series for small kids, but older kids and adults will love it, even if they are not hard core Marvel fans.

Loki Cupcakes

To celebrate the release of the series on Disney + tomorrow Wedenesday June 9th,. we have created this delicious and cute Loki Cupcakes.

Ingredients

Loki Sprinkles 

• 1 package of Gold sprinkle mix
• 1 package of Green sprinkle mix 
• 1 package of Black sprinkle mix 
• Mix all sprinkles together until combined and set aside (Makes 18 cupcakes)​​​

Fondant Pieces

• 1 package of Wilton BlackFondant
• 1 package of Wilton Green Fondant
• 1 package of Wilton Golden Yellow Fondant
• 1 can of silver cake spray 
• 1 can of gold cake spray
• 1 Rolling pin
  
• ​1 Wilton Bow Silicone Mold
  
• 1 cookie sheet with silicone mat
  
• 1 outline cut out of Loki Headset - outline just the horns on the image. You may need to enlarge the image to about 4in in height. 
  
• 1 2 in round fondant cutter

Preparation

1. Sprinkle some cornstarch onto the cutting board
2. Remove the green fondant from the package and knead onto the cutting board to make the fondant soft and workable
3. Sprinkle some more cornstarch onto the cutting board and roll the fondant into ¼ inch thick
4. Using the round fondant cutter, cut out 36 round circles
5. Place them onto the cookie sheet
6. Work the golden yellow fondant to be able to roll out into ¼ in thick 
7. Place the loki horn cut out onto the yellow fondant and cut out about 20 horns
8. Place  onto the cookie sheet to dry overnight
9. Using the black fondant, pinch off about 1tbps of fondant and press it into the medium bow mold
10. Carefully remove the bow from the mold and place onto the cookie sheet to dry overnight 
11. Make about 20 bows

Next Day : 

1. Using the silver cake spray, lightly spray the bows and ears to give them a shine 
2. Using the gold cake spray, lightly spray the horns to give them the gold look
3. Chocolate Cupcake
4. 1 box of chocolate cake mix
5. 1 ¼  C of whole milk
6. ½ C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
7. 3 large eggs
8. Vanilla frosting
9. 1 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
10. 3 C powdered sugar
11. 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
12. 3-5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
13. 1 large piping bag with a star tip
14. 1 medium ice cream scooper

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a cupcake pan with liners
2. Using a large bowl, beat together the cake mix, milk, butter and eggs until combined and smooth
3. Fill the cupcake liners ¾ way full
4. Bake in the oven for 21 minutes
5. Allow to cool completely
6. Frosting directions
7. Using a standing mixer, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream until combined, smooth and stiff
8. Scoop 2 C of the frosting into the piping bag
9. Using the ice cream scooper, scoop frosting into the scooper and top the cupcakes with the frosting 
10. Using a butterknife, gently spread the frosting into a thick round disk
11. Roll the frosted cupcake into the sprinkles 
12. Set aside and complete steps with remaining cupcakes 
13. Using the piping bag, pipe a dollop of the frosting into the center of the cupcakes 
14. Place the bow into the center of the frosting 
15. Gently place the horns behind the bow 
16. Gently place the ears behind the horns
