It is hard to believe that the top movie producer of Stop Motion movies, Laika, will be celebrating 1o years on the industry. So many movies to remember them by: Coraline, Boxtroll, Paranorman and soon to be released Kubo and the two strings.
To commemorate the anniversary they have partnered with Universal Studios Hollywood to present an experience that shows the journey thru their history as a cinematography company. You can now enjoy “From Coraline to Kubo: A Magical LAIKA Experience” at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Globe Theater from Aug. 5-14, in anticipation of “Kubo and the Two Strings'” Aug. 19 theatrical release. The attraction features a close look at the artistic detail behind Laika’s ten-year filmaking history, which also includes Academy Award-nominated films The Boxtrolls and ParaNorman. The experience showcases the evolution of Laika’s handcrafted stop-motion animation and visual effects that come to life in four themed rooms. The display features original sets, puppets and props. We were lucky to attend a press event, where we were able not only to screen the movie (that is a must see), but also to enjoy a private tour of the experience. We were really impressed with all the details and how much we learned about the movies from the creators and movie executives. We also enjoyed craft activities and a very delicious lunch. Kubo And The Two Strings will be on theaters August 19th.About the movieYoung Kubo's (Art Parkinson) peaceful existence comes crashing down when he accidentally summons a vengeful spirit from the past. Now on the run, Kubo joins forces with Monkey (Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Matthew McConaughey) to unlock a secret legacy. Armed with a magical instrument, Kubo must battle the Moon King (Ralph Fiennes) and other gods and monsters to save his family and solve the mystery of his fallen father, the greatest samurai warrior the world has ever known.
