Interview with Ally Maki (voice of "Giggle McDimples") in Toy Story 4

They say that Giggle McDimples is the tiniest Toy Story character ever. The character is Inspired by the Polly Pocket toys. Giggle McDimples is Bo’s best friend and they both have amazing adventures being lost toys on the road instead of in a kid’s room. Giggle is sweet, funny, has a contagious laugh. She is tiny but she is brave and fierce. She is a police office. This is the character voiced by the actress Ally Maki.

I was lucky enough to get invited to the Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California to interview Ally. She is so nice. Since the moment she entered the room she was cheerful and so energetic. Here are some of the things we learned on a our short interview with Ally Maki.

Ally learned that she got the role in a very magical way. Something that you probably expect from an amazing company like Pixar. They sent Ally a very fancy package in the mail. It had a letter with the Incredibles family on top that was addressed to her saying that Pixar would love for her to be a part of Toy Story 4. It also came with a big box complete with all the Pixar films, and a binder with early concept art of Giggles and of Toy Story 4.

Ally also told us about the amazing look she wore to the premiere, doesn't she look amazing? Well it is mens wear adapted to her. She knew she didn't want to wear a dress. Giggles McDimples wouldn't had wore a dress. So she wanted to represent her character. 

On top of being happy for being part of a Pixar movie and specially a movie she grew up watching, she was excited to play the first Asian American female Pixar character. Maki founded the  Asian American Girl Club, an apparel company that wants to empower Asian American woman and women of color in general. 

Cool fact? Just after the movie premiere, in the middle of the after party she went to her room to change her shoes and she saw rose petals on the floor. Yeah her boyfriend proposed that night. He knew that night was very special for her and he planned the whole thing and he proposed. How romantic is that? Now it is time to plan a Disney wedding, maybe a Giggles McDimples cake and all.

Another cool fact? Pixar found her after they watched a very low budget YouTube video she had made just for fun. You can watch it here. This so empowering for us bloggers. Sometimes we doubt ourselves so much, but we never know you is actually going to enjoy our videos, pictures, etc and we should be proud of all our content because as long as we put our passion into it, we can make things happen in the future.
