How to Decorate Coffee Mugs with Vinyl and your Cricut

One of the things I was most excited about when I got my Cricut was how easy is to  create personalized and one-of-a-kind gifts. I am super excited about being able to customize things t-shirts, sweatshirts, wine glasses, and mugs. 

The ​Cricut website has everything you need to get started. You have access to the software DesignSpace. It has plenty of templates already available for you to use or you can get creative and design it yourself.

I decided that my first project was going to be a coffee mug. I found that the Vinyl set had everything I needed to get me started. Here’s what you’ll need to make this mug:

• Cricut Explore Air 2 
• Vinyl Starter Kit
• ​Cricut machine mat
• coffee mug
• cotton balls
• scissors
• Design of your choice (I used one from the templates available)
• rubbing alcohol

Once you pick your design template you can edit the colors, font, etc. Once you are ready to cut, add the place mat with your vinyl to the machine and press go. Magic starts happening then, your Cricut Explore Air 2 will start cutting your design

Once the design is ready, remove the excess of vinyl and add it to the transfer tap that comes in your kit. Then with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol clean your mug. Once you are ready you can start transferring the letters to the coffee mug

Easy peasy, now your design is ready. Get your favorite coffee or tea, grab a cupcake and enjoy.

As with any other handmade item, I would recommend not using the dishwasher.
