Homeschooling ha so many advantages. You can plan education according to your child needs and customize curriculum to better serve your child likes and dislikes. One part that i hard for me while homeschooling my son is keeping rules such as waiting for recess to eat or go to the bathroom. We have found that it is easier for my son to stop in the middle of a school lesson and go to the refrigerator to look for a snack.
Since we want to motivate our son to make healthier choices, we have decided to have available healthy snacks in the house, pantry and refrigerator. That way whenever he goes to look for a snack he will find healthy and delicious snacks he can choose from. Here is the list of our favorites.
1. Fruits
So many choices to choose from. My son loves strawberries, apples, peaches and bananas. You can have them available for your kids if you cut them and put them on containers, or just child can just grab a whole one, wash it and eat it.
If you want to go a little further you can add yogurt and granola to make it a more complete snack or even a breakfast. 2. Cheese strings
These are very convenient. Kids can just take them out of the refrigerator and ear them. They can also be combined with some sandwich meat and roll them together for a higher protein combination. Eat them with crackers and sandwich meat for a complete lunch.
3. Seaweed
Salty and delicious. Low in calories and conveniently package for portion control. My son loves to eat them by themselves. Sometimes I add them with the cheese strings for a salty combination.
4. Hummus dip
You can make this at home or buy it at the store. Hummus as a dip for vegetables or crackers. We love it with carrots, celery and pretzels.
5. Popcorn
You can use the microwavable one, or prepare it a home. They also sell prepackaged ready to eat popcorn. We get the low in butter so it is healthier and we add some shredded cheese for flavor.
6. Hard-boiled Eggs
Full of protein. You can cook them during the weekend and they will last the whole week. Your child can eat them by themselves or combine them with cheese. They are great for a snack in the morning to give energy and keep kids full until the lunch break.
7. Grass-Fed Beef Sticks
This is one of my son's favorite snacks. They are really good with no added nitrates. My son like the spicy ones but they also have regular flavor. They are grass-fed meat and gluten free.
They are available at amazon and if you buy them using my affiliated link below you can contribute to all our future adventures, including being able to homeschool our son.
