My son loves to play video games and we love having fun while learning, especially science which can be very complex subject. While looking for new curriculum for the next school year, I found Legends of Learning, a game-based learning platform that offers science-based games for grades 3-8 for free.
I was very excited to give them a try and see if I could incorporate the system into our learning journey. First, I started with the simple process of registering for a free account. After that, you receive a login code to provide your students.
Once your student is logged on, they can play the science computer games and, as the teacher, you can monitor the process. Oh, by the way, as a teacher you also get to try the games before assigning them to your students. That is a cool feature because I know what my son is going to like or dislike. If I see he is not going to be interested in the learning game, I do not bother sending it to him.
The games include a variety of subject areas, such as Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. Each subject area contains a great selection of games from which you can choose.
Since we have been talking about cellular systems and anatomy we gave one of the games a try. My son was really enjoying it. The instructions to play the games are very simple to follow.
Once they start playing the game, it adapts to their learning knowledge and keeps adding questions that are more complex, like a normal video game where you have levels you have to reach.
Here is a little video of my son enjoying the game, so you can have an idea of what the games look like. Aren’t they just too cute? My son was playing a while and he really enjoyed it.
We love game-based learning because we see that it provides engaging activities and the system is able to adapt to the student learning. As students learn more about the subject, the game difficulty increases to keep them challenged.
Sign up for Legends of Learning. It is so easy to create a free account and your kids will be able to enjoy these amazing science games once they are back to school!

As part of my day job we evaluated this product for a subscription purchase for multiple schools. I remember the content was good, but not with enough variety as a district might need for purchased content. But I remember liking several of the scenarios and if you know your student, it should be excellent.

Oh my gosh - this looks like the coolest way to learn ever! I wish I had this available as a kid... my kids will definitely be using this when they're old enough. Love the way they gamified learning, it's a great motivator.
