Five ways to spoil your dog

My dogs are part of my family. When we lost Da Vinci last year it was very hard for us. Dogs are like babies. They need you so much. The best thing you can do for your dogs is to spoil them because they will be gone before you know it. 

1. Lots of love and snuggles

My dogs love to kiss me, and I love to kiss them. Some people might find this gross and it is ok. You do not need to kiss your dogs to love them. You just need to play with them. Shake their paws, pet their bellies, pet their forehead. Whatever you choose to do, just acknowledge your dog is there. Tell them they are good boys (or girls) and show them you care for them. 

2. Grooming

I know a lot of people take their dog to the groomers. I rather bond with them during shower time. One my dogs enjoy taking showers and the other one does not like the water, however they both look so cute and smell so good after the shower. You groom them because you want them to be clean but also because it helps prevent fleas and ticks. We complement the anti-flea shampoo and conditioner with anti-flea spay on the bed areas and also anti-flea drops. 

Even Donatello that does not love showers will appreciate not having fleas. After the shower I also clean their ears, brush their teeth and even massage them with coconut oil to help their coat shine. They both love the massage, and I love all the snuggles I get from them while doing it.

3. Treats

All dogs need treats. Not only as a reward for well behavior but also as a snack. Treats do not mean food all the time. Toys work as well. My dogs love stuff animals and chewy bones. You can also use the teeth cleaning bones as treats, and your dog mouth will smell like mint, that is a win-win situation! 

4. Daily walks

Dogs love to go outside. I take my dogs out on walks because they keep me safe and to provide them some exercise. Make sure you keep them hydrated and have the right leash. Early mornings or late afternoons work better because the heat is not that bad and the pavement is not too hot for their paws.

5. Treat them like family

Treat them like family, because they are family. They are my fur babies. They are faithful and loyal. They have no one else but you and your family. They depend on your for all their needs. Mine are inside dogs and they even sleep with me but you do not need to do the same to love them. As long as they have a nice warm place to sleep, a place where they do not get wet and they can hide from extreme heat they will be fine. But make sure you give them attention and love during the day.
