It was a magical morning when I got the email full of Pixie Dust. I had been invited to the Disney’s Social Media Moms Celebration “On the Road” at Disneyland. The best part, the whole family was invited. So while I was going to be learning about Disney and social media, the boys were going to have time at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. We decided to make it a whole stay-cation. We drove the night before and spend the night at one of the Disneyland Hotels, and we were able to see some fireworks, talk about setting the tone for the start of our magical mini-vacation. We got up early and headed to the conference location. The conference was held at the Pacific Ballroom at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. When we checked in, we got our park-hopper passes, and a super cute swag bag filled with Disney’s 60th Diamond Celebration merchandise and we even got on our table one of the Made with Magic ears and interactive Paint The Night Light Up Paint Brush. This magical brush lets you change the color patterns of your other Made with Magic items with a wave. We were given a park hopper ticket for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, a FastPass for the new Soarin’ Over the World, and VIP viewing for Paint the Night parade and Disneyland Forever Fire-works show. After a very delicious breakfast, the conference got started with a fabulous line-up of speakers. Leanne O’Regan, Director of Content Relations for Disney Parks, was in charge of announcing the speakers and moderating. Her amazing personality got everyone very excited. What is new at DisneyNext up was Michele Himmelberg, Public Relations Director at The Disneyland Resort. Michele talked about some of the great things happening at Disney Parks.
Disney Parks BlogWe also got a presentation from Erin Glover, Editorial Content Director at The Disneyland Resort. She is the person on charge of the content on the Disney Parks Blog. She talked about editorial calendars and how to re-up a blog post. MoanaThen we got a super top secret presentation. Amy Smeed, Animator at Walt Disney Studios, gave us an exclusive peek at Moana. We were instructed to turn our phones off and security guards were making sure we were making sure we were following the instructions. I am still under embargo and cannot share a lot, however I can tell you this is a movie you want to go see when it comes out on theaters. Moana is due to set sail in theaters on November 23rd, during Thansgiving break! Using video for social media promotionAfter a short break, Victoria Lim, Managing Editor of Content at Walt Disney World. Victoria showed us some great phone apps we can use to make easy videos, such as Magisto and Videolicious. Since video is becoming such a trend, it is important that we learn all about it. Check the video I made during this amazing conference. Balance of family and careerOur next speaker was actress Tiffani Thiessen (Saved by the Bell and Beverly Hills 90210). She has a blog and also has a new show. She talked about how she likes to share DIY tutorials on her blog and find time for family and career The final speaker of the morning was Ginger Zee, Chief Meteorologist for ABC News and Good Morning America. She also talked to us about work/life balance and not being afraid of starting new projects. Best way to end the day!The final visit and surprise for the morning was my pal, Mickey Mouse! Who does not love a picture with him? Then it was time to meet our families and go be kids of the day and enjoy all the magic that happens at the parks.
