I was invited to attend the Disney Social Media Celebration On-The-Road. All opinions, grammatical errors and typos are my own. It was a magical day full of learning, networking, and enjoying Pixie Dust. It was the Disney Social Media Celebration on the Road at Disneyland Hotel During the conference we heard from some good speakers about a lot of cool things. Some were tips for our own social media and other things were about things happening at the Disney Parks and Disney company in general. This is what we learned this year. First the amazing Courtnee Collier gave us a warm welcome and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Then it was time to start listening to the Disney experts. Creating video content with Bob Hitchcock Bob talked to us about the importance of video, not only Youtube but also in Facebook and Instagram. The stats are incredible: 88% of people spends more time on a website with video and viewers retain 95% of message if they can watch it compared with only 10% of reading the content. Key message use video! Now things to consider: 85% of Facebook guest watch video without sound, so captions are important. Make sure you have a plan when creating your video. Have a pre-production sheet that answers some of these questions: What is the strategy, what are the key messages, what emotion you want to evoke, what is the location, and who is the main character. During the production process, be prepared to know your audience and what they like, use common language, be authentic, and make sure your video is good and clear. Once you are done producing your video make sure to edit it, customize it for the different plattaforms, add music, and post and pray! Then we listened to Mallory Wang about things happening with all things Disney network. Lots of updates on Disney Plus. By the way did you subscribe yet? So many cool things coming to Disney Plus. It was time to put our phones, laptops and electronics away. A secret presentation about Maleficient Mistress of Evil was coming our way with never seen footage. We learned so much from Louie Provast, Senior VP of Production at Walt Disney Studios. For example the movie kind of starts with a proposal, ends with a wedding, but has lots of twists in the middle. One of the biggest questions about Maleficient is if the is an evil fairy, where are her wings? So in this movie we are going to learn about Maleficient, why does she look different that other fairies and they will introduce new fairies to explain it all. Maleficient is going to learn about her ancestors. As usual good fairy tails have good endings an a sequel is only as good as your villain, and on Maleficient, Michelle Pfeiffer is going to be a good menace. Don't forget to head to the movies to watch Maleficient Mistress of Evil October 18th Next we heard from John Breckow, Director of corporate Citizenship about Make a Wish and all the wishes Disney helps come true each year. Did you know that there 26,000,00 people have been involved in granting Disney wishes since 1980? Did you know that with the #ShareYourEars program Disney helps people get their wishes? Did you know that you can join the VoluntEAR program? They provided more than 600,100 ours of volunteer service in 2018 and near 4 million hours since 1992 We had a few more presentations about content created with the Disney Parks Blog ( a great resource to plan your visit), we also heard from Ashley Eckstein (founder of Her Universe) about working hard to achieve your dreams and off course we learned about all things coming to the parks. Here are some highlights about things coming to Disneyland
Fun at the parksOne of the perks of attending the Disney Social Media Conference on The Road is that you get tickets to enjoy the parks with the family. We had such a great time seeing the park decorated for Halloween. Here are some of the pictures that show how much fun is to enjoy Disneyland and Disney California Adventure with your family.
One cool thing about Disneyland is that you can add MaxPass to your tickets. It allows you to book fast passes on your app and also gives you downloads of the pictures the Disneyland photographers take of you as well of the ride pictures. They also have cute things added to your pictures. I call them magic shots. It is totally worth it.

Wow, that sounds like a really helpful conference. I didn't realise the massive information retention difference between video and reading.
