Dine with a view: Bluewater Boathouse Seafood Grill

We dined as a guest of the restaurant. All opinions, grammatical errors and typos are my own.

This past weekend my best friend and I took the kids to San Diego for an end of summer road trip. We had some fun activities plan for the kids, but we also wanted to enjoy a delicious, fancy dinner. Believe it or not, our kids are foodies. I guess they take after their moms.

​Since I have dined before at the Bluewater Grill in Catalina Island, I knew that we were going to be having a seafood feast. 

​The restaurant is located on a beautiful building overlooking the water. The views of the water especially at sunset time are breathtaking. The views are the main reason I love dinning at a waterfront restaurant. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the service was amazing.

Appetizer

We opted for an appetizer of our kid’s favorite, the fried calamari. We were practically licking the empty dish it was so good.

One of the best things about the restaurant is that offers all you can eat oven-fresh sourdough bread. All sourdough breads are not created equal. This was among the best I've ever had.

We also had some of their award winning clam chowder and their Manhattan Chowder. They were both delicious

Main dishes

How does a mom treat herself to something delicious during a trip with the kids? By ordering Lobster. The Steamed Maine Lobster was so fresh and delicious. It is a 1 1/4lb Maine lobster steamed and split, served with your choice of sides, fresh lemon wedges, drawn butter and a bib.

What do foodie teenagers want for dinner? Alaskan King Crab Legs. The plate was so big that two of our kids were able to split it. It was 1 1/4 lb split and served withdrawn butter. Our kids picked chips and fries as their sides. Hey, they are teenagers after all.

Another dish that we can recommend is the Pan-Seared Sea Scallops, served with goat cheese grits, sweet corn, asparagus and chive oil. It was well flavored and perfectly cooked.

​The great thing about the restaurant is that it has a great selection of meat and poultry dishes for those that are not seafood aficionados. . It also offers delicious salads, like the shrimp and avocado salad (pictured below) or the wedge salad with bacon.

Desserts

Save room for dessert because the Java Mud Pie is delicious. Although the Seasonal Bread Pudding is not too shabby.

Drinks

They have a great variety of wines that pair perfectly with their seafood and meat dishes. However you all know how much I love margaritas. Their spicy margarita is delicious.

Kids menu

They have a kids menu. Our kids are a little big for the kid menu, however they did enjoy their kid's drink, the Shark Attack. It is a very fun color changing drink.

The view

We can't say anything better about the food, however, the thing I enjoyed the most was the view. They have patio seating, but even from inside you can enjoy the sunset. I could just stare for hours to the window and just watch the reflection of the sun over the ocean, as I sip my margarita. So relaxing!

We will be back for sure. The quality of the food was great. The location is amazing and they have reasonable prices for such a great place.
