Isn’t it great that sometimes we do not have to travel and go far to discover new cultures? Disneyland and Disney California Adventure provide us not only with pixie dust and magical experiences but also allow us to experience multicultural festivals. From January 20 to February 5 at Disney California Adventure Park, you can enjoy a traditional celebration of Asian culture, honoring the Chinese New Year, which this year is in honor The Red Rooster of Fire.
The year 4715 of the Chinese chronology marks the arrival of the Gallo de Fuego, on January 28, 2017 and will end on February 15, 2018. This means that the celebration of the Chinese New Year starts with the first moon of the new year and ends with the full moon of fifteen days later.
During my last visit to Disney California Adventure, I was amazed. You can literally transport yourself to Asia and learn about the culture, participate on interactive activities (decoration of balloon lanterns, write messages of good fortune for the new year and even make a scroll with your name.) But besides learning about culture you can try different foods at the Paradise Garden Grill. The menu includes amazing dishes from China, Korea and Vietnam. The menu includes dishes such as Beef Ribs, Xiǎo Lóng Bāo (pork soup dumplings), Crunchy Tilapia, Vegetable Dumplings and even desserts such as Cassava Coconut Cake and Mango Pudding.
You can also expect to find shows including a Chinese music performance by Jie Ma and a concert by Vietnamese guitarist Dat Nguyen. There are also Chinese acrobats, and in a special parade: "Mulan's New Year Procession”.
You can also find Mickey and Minnie joining the party, Great photo opportunities with them as well as other characters like Chip'n Dale, Mulan and Mushu.
Make sure you stick until late hours, because the night show "World of Color" has a special editions "Hurry Home", a beautiful projection made with CGI animation format, and the soundtrack of musician Tan Dun, who was in charge of the music at the opening of the Shanghai Disney Resort.
