When I received a basket full of marinades and spices I knew it was the perfect way to celebrate the Hispanic Heritage Month. If you are not familiar with this celebration, let me tell you a little bit about it.
Hispanic Heritage Month starts on Monday (September 15th-October 15th) and it is a celebration of Hispanic culture. Music, food and language is the way we celebrate at home. It is hard to cook dishes with latin flavor, but some companies have seasoning products that make it easy.
One of these companies is Chef Merito that offers a great line of marinades and spices that help create dishes that taste just as those that I used to eat in Colombia. Chef Merito is a family-owned business.Their products combine only the freshest and highest quality spices and are dedicated to enhance authentic Latin American, Mexican, and Spanish cuisine
We have been experiencing a heat wave in California and to take advantage of the weather we decided to have some Carne Asada and some chicken seasoned with Chef Merito. It was a total success. The flavor was just like back at home.

Nosotros celebramos nuestra herencia hispana con reuniones familiares, mucha rica comida y muchos recuerdos
I celebrate Hispanic month is going by and see what kind of events are going on. And since I do not eat meat I do cook for my grandchildren and my family. I try to put on a small celebration at my house for my grandchildren who loves to celebrate Hispanic month. And for that one month my family eats nothing but Mexican food. And since I do not eat meat my family during that month my family will not eat meat for 2 or 3 days. They tell me that is how long that they can go without eating meat. And there only doing it because of me. And I respect them for that. Each and everyone of my family members. From the oldest which is 87 years old to the youngest which is the only boy in the family my grandson he is 3 years old. And then there is there dad my son in law.
I'm blessed to have a multicultural family so we mix everything including food, dances and traditions. We make a party and have a variety menu to delight our guests including our american friends (they love our food so much). We usually have chicken fajitas, corn on the cob with chile on top, taquitos, arepas, tequeños (Its like a cheese stick), empanadas and ricos jugos or agua de horchata, tamarindo.
