Can you believe that we are starting the second trimester of the year? It seems that it was yesterday when we set all those New Year resolutions or goals. It is time to re-evaluate and see how we are doing.
With the arrival of Spring and all the popularity of spring cleaning for the house, maybe we need to do some spring cleaning in our refrigerator, pantry and start an exercise program too. Here are some healthy easy tips for you to implement this Spring 1. Meal planning: it is easy to eat unhealthy if you cook or shop while you are hungry. If you prepare meals in advance and have a calendar, it would be easy to eat healthy food. This will also help you with saving some money, because you will buy only the ingredients that you need to prepare your meals and it will be less food wasted. Click on the image below for a meal planning free download.
2. Exercise: The weather is nicer so there is plenty of activities you can do. Walk, swim, play out with your kids. Be active. That is what is important. You can choose what works for your lifestyle. Make sure you are active for at least 30 minutes a day.
3. Drink plenty of water: Stay hydrated. Giving up soda it has been one of the most difficult things I have ever done, but I am glad I did it. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Keeping a water log might be useful. 4. Clean your mind: Relax, enjoy nature. Use breathing techniques to relax, find a hobby. Take a hot shower, talk to a friend. So many ways to fight stress. As spring comes, it is a great time to start thinking about our long-term health and how our current habits might impact it. Over time things we might not see like a glass of wine or two at night or trying something that we have seen recommended on the internet might leave us in a vulnerable position. Everything we put into our body impacts the mind; wine, coffee, smoking, and even the effects of mushrooms on the brain are something to be mindful of. Clean your mind by taking a broader view of your life.
5. Get rid of unnecessary things: clutter and mess can affect you. Clean you house, get rid of clothes and things you do not use anymore (you can sell them or donate them, just get them out of your home). You will be able to "detox" your home. Choose a room every weekend and clean it. Your house will be clean before you know it. This will also help you with any allergies.
6. Be happy and smile: sounds easy, but sometimes we forget to do it. Find things you enjoy and share them with people you love.
As usual before you start any meal or exercise plan or if you are suffering from any diseases, consult with a medical professional first. Visit your doctor for a year physical and do not forget to visit your dentist as well.

The opinions in this article are my own. I do not work for, or with, any brand mentioned in this article, nor do I have any official relationship with them. I have a relationship with GigaSavvy, for whom I create original editorial content. Last year I attended a very well organized event at Knott's Berry Farms for their Knott's Berry Bloom celebration. It was a great way to welcome Spring and we really enjoyed the food and wine tasting, but in general all the activities were perfect for a good family day at the park. Starting April 12, 2014 Knott’s Berry Farm will have for the first time a Ghost Town Boysenberry Festival: wine, dine and boysenberry inspired products. I cannot wait to try all they yummy products, because at our house we love boysenberries. But all the fun does not stop with food and wine (yes, they also have beer), off course there is a lot of activities for kids to have fun like:
Remember that you can enjoy this and other events at Knott's with your season passes Giveaway I know you do not want to miss all the fun and want to visit the park for Easter, so enter below for your chance to win 2 tickets. Good luck!
Disclosure: I received complementary tickets to facilitate this post, however all opinions are 100% mine. Last weekend we were invited by Knott's Berry Farm to a VIP event to celebrate the opening of their 3 new rides at Knott's Boardwalk. The first thing that was so cool about this is that we got to enjoy the park before it opened to the public. Oh yeah, no lines to ride the roller coasters, that is the right way to do it. The other great thing is that they welcomed us with a Continental Breakfast. Well not a normal continental breakfast. They actually had chefs preparing omelettes with our favorite ingredients. After breakfast we enjoyed the 3 new rides at Knott’s Boardwalk. The first one was the Coast Rider where you go as high as 52 feet and swirl around the coaster. With turns and drops the coaster will have your heart beat up for a little bit. Then we went to ride the Surfers Gliders. That is something new and exciting. You can steer your glider up in the air and feel the wind on your hair. After that it was the Pacific Scrambler. Oh yes, you feel you are being scrambled and moved side to side. Then we had to go see the improved Log Ride. It was early to get wet but we wanted to skip the lines. It is a cute ride with a drop at the end that will get you pumped to get on the bigger rides. Then the park opened, and people started coming in. We still had time to enjoy other favorites such as Jaguar, the Sierra Sidewinder, Riptide and we even convinced our son to ride Boomerang. It was a day full of fun and adventure. But once again once you are at Knott’s you know your day is going to be AWESOME. Thank you Knott’s for having us and allow us to once again enjoy a wonderful day. Disclosure: I received complementary tickets to facilitate this post, however all opinions are 100%mine.
Disclosure: My family received complementary passes to attend Medieval Times, however all opinions expressed are my own. My family and I were invited to the show Medieval Times. Let me tell you all about our journey into the Middle Ages and the time of the Knights. Since my husband and son will be traveling to Ohio soon, we wanted to have an early Father’s Day celebration and what a better place to visit that Medieval Times. When you arrive to pick up your tickets, you can upgrade for different options and you can also choose to visit for an extra nominal fee the Middle Ages Museum called The Museum of Torture. At the small museum you get to see all types of weapons and torture tools used at the Middle Ages. Everyone at the show is dressed in traditional Middle Ages attire and addresses you as my lady or my lord. This is a great way to help you get into the mood for the show. They gave us white and black crowns. That meant we had to cheer for our Knight Don Iofre Santa Creu, defender of the ancient shrine at Santiago de Compostela. We were seated by the servers and we were ready to start the show. If you get the royalty upgrade you get preferential seating and also a banner to cheer your knight. Once everyone is at their seats the trumpets sound and The King and Queen beckoned the staff to bring on the feast. Then the servers begin bringing you the royal feast. The feast includes: Tomato Bisque Soup, Castle Bread, Roasted Chicken, BBQ Spare Rib, Herb-Basted Potato, and a Pastry of the Castle for desert. There are also drinks: Pepsi, Ice Tea or water with the option of buying alcoholic beverages. They also have a vegetarian menu available The roasted chicken is very delicious, the BBQ flavor of the ribs is unique, the potato seasoning is very tasty and the rest of the menu just complements all very good. All of the food is to be eaten with your bare hands as they did in the Middle Ages when silverware had not been invented. And while everyone is enjoying the feast, a great show is taking place. There are horses and knights, weapons, live jousting, fights and battles. It is all very entertaining. There is even a Falcon that flights over the audience. The fights are so intense that there are sparks with the swords and weapons get crushed and Knights get pushed off their horses. You are taken back in time as you cheer for the Knight of the Realm that has the same colors as your crown. At the end there is only one winner. It was not our Knight, but the show was really entertaining. You feel like you were in a Journey to the Medieval Times and both kids and adults will enjoy the food and show. Medieval times is the perfect place to celebrate special occasions such as Father’s Day, graduations, Birthdays and we even had a group with us celebrating a bachelor party. For more information and specials you can visit their website at Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament You can also follow them on Twitter and like them on Facebook Now you can enjoy the Family Blogger Special use Promo-Code 35BLOG. Disclosure: I received complementary tickets for Knott's Soak City, but all opinions are my own. My son loves the pool. He enjoys the slides, just swimming but his favorite is the Tidal Wave Bay. So last Sunday when we were to Knott's Soak City he had so much fun. It was all fun under the sun. We got there early and got a welcome from the park representatives. They gave us a goody bag with water toys, a towel and some snacks. They also provided us with access to the Cabanas. And if you are going to be at the Park all day that is the way to go. Let me show you in pictures all the fun we had. My favorite is the Lazy River. I just enjoyed relaxing during the ride. My son loved the Tidal Wave Bay. But there is a little bit of something for everyone and people from all ages will have fun at Soak City. Even if you do not get in the water (my husband was injured) you will still have fun. We had a very yummy lunch that included healthy options and my fellow bloggers surprised me by singing happy birthday and giving me a cute Snoopy cupcake.
The service at all times was great. Safety is a priority at the Park as Cathy the supervisor explained to us. The park offers life jackets free of cost and the lifeguards are trained really well. I want to thank Knott's Soak City for the invite and I can say it was a great way to celebrate my birthday. You still have time to buy the Season Passes, before price goes up on May 27th. Hurry up and do not forget the sunscreen! |
