How does brunch with live entertainment and a Bloody Mary bar sound? I know when I heard about it I was sure I wanted to visit Oxnard Copper Blues restaurant. I had been there just after Thanksgiving and loved their food. I knew brunch was going to be amazing, but I had to be sure.
So I after our tropical vacation, I grabbed my BFF and headed to the restaurant. It is so close to my home. Located next to the Levity Live Comedy Club in the awesome The Collection at Riverpark in Oxnard. You can even have brunch and head to the movies, or go shopping.
It is a family friendly place, although if you are having the Bloody Mary bar or the bottomless mimosas you might just want to go with grown up friends. The day I went there were a couple of tables celebrating birthdays and there was one table celebrating a bachelorette party. Now, let's talk about what it is important: The Food. The brunch menu has so many options. It was hard to pick what to have so the awesome manager recommended that for our media tasting we had some small portions of some dishes. We started with the Bread Pudding French Toast, an awesome combination of maple baked bread pudding with cinnamon and berries. If you like sweets for breakfast this is for you.
After the sweet treat we got a taste of a very unique but delicious treat. The Bibimbap, a bowl with rice, kimchi, sweet chili soy, bacon, eggs and pickled vegetables. It was a very interesting combination.
As we are enjoying the amazing food, we started having some drinks and listened to some live smooth jazz. I chose the Bloody Mary Bar($20) and my friend chose the bottomless mimosas ($15). The idea of the Bloody Mary Bar is fantastic. The waitress brings you a glass with ice and vodka. Then you head to the table that has all your garnishes and your Bloody Mary Mix. They even have bacon for your Bloody Mary's. How cool is that?
They also offer other cocktails such a Moscow Mule, Old Fashioned and Sarerac ($9 to 12).
We also got to try the Smoked Salmon Toast: smoked salmon with red onions, capers, charred tomatoes, cucumber, dill, creme fraiche, spring green salad and red wine vinaigrette.
Chef Chris McKinley told us about the fusion of flavors that makes his creations so delicious. He loves exotic flavors, something you can see all over the menu. He has several items on the menu that are gluten free and vegetarian items.
We then decided to go for our individual choices. I picked the Breakfast Burger and my friend chose the Breakfast Pizza. They were both amazing.
At the end of our brunch, we were full and happy. We headed to the shops at the collection for some shopping and a lot of laughs. We will be back to enjoy some more of the delicious food. I will be bringing my son, because he is going to love the Smoked Salmon Toast, and next time I might even get adventurous and order the Cajun Shrimp Benedict.
