Whale Watching is always fun. We try to go at least once a year. Since we live near Channel Islands that is our usual, however we are so happy we took a drive and visited Harbor Breeze Cruises in Long Beach. Just next to the Aquarium of the Pacific, they offer year long tours, which are very successful.
Although on their trips you can see a variety of sea life, they have seasons for different type of whales. June to September is the time for the blue whales, the largest whales in the world. We are very lucky that Harbor Breeze Cruises invited us to join them for a fun trip.
Endangered blue whales and fin whales are being spotted in the waters off Long Beach. The Aquarium of the Pacific and Harbor Breeze Cruises set sail for the chance to see these whales while learning about recent findings as well as about other whales. The trip takes place on the new M/V Espada, a specialized high-speed whale watching catamaran docked next to the Aquarium. Experts from the Aquarium’s blue whale photo ID program teach you everything about the arrival of Southern California’s endangered blue whale population and reveal how we can identify individual whales that are being spotted local urban waters. Blue whales are the largest animal on the planet and frequent Southern California’s urban ocean—a busy and bustling place intensely used by both people and wildlife.
