I am so surprised I have never heard about the book or this amazing story and I am so glad that they made a movie, because this is a story that is worth seeing and it is a great grown up Christmas day movie.
About the movie
Directed by Denzel Washington and starring Michael B. Jordan with a screenplay by Virgil Williams, A JOURNAL FOR JORDAN is based on the true story of First Sergeant Charles Monroe King (Jordan), a soldier deployed to Iraq who begins to keep a journal of love and advice for his infant son. Back at home, senior New York Times editor Dana Canedy (Chanté Adams) revisits the story of her unlikely, life-altering relationship with King and his enduring devotion to her and their child. A sweeping account of a once-in-a-lifetime love, the film is a powerful reminder of the importance of family.

Virtual press junket with Dana Canedy
We had the opportunity to interview Dana Canedy. She told us about her love story, the journal, and what part of the book she would had really wanted to be in the movie but maybe didn't make it into the movie.
Did we like it?
I cried a few times, I laughed others. Such a beautiful story. This is not a movie for kids, I think it is appropriate for teenagers and up. This is a perfect love story movie that would be great as a date night or an outing with friends. I loved the acting in the movie and the story although it has a sad ending it is also a great love story.
I never knew about the book and I just ordered it, because we all know there is so much on that book and this movie is just a pick of the best parts of the book.
