Chinese New Year is also known as Spring Festival in China, It is one of the most important traditional holidays in China. The Chinese New Year (Year of the Red Rooster of Fire) will be celebrated on Saturday, January 28th. As is tradition, it will be a day of family gatherings and street celebrations to celebrate the arrival of the New Year.
This year it will commemorate the 4715 year according to the traditional Chinese calendar, and corresponds to the Year of the Rooster. βIt is a period full of celebrations, which begins with New Year's Day and ends with the Lantern Festival of 2017, the fifteenth day of the first month.
To receive the "Spring Festival" people clean their homes with old brooms, which they thrown away right after the cleaning. People hang red posters with poetic verses on their houses doors; decorate with Chinese New Year paintings on the walls and red lanterns. Fireworks and firecrackers are launched, hoping to push away bad luck and attract prosperity. Children receive money from their families.
