I love that my son has found a sport he likes. Commitment on his end about going to practice, and commitment on our end to take him to the practice. I have put together a list of essentials for a sport parent. Five things you want to make sure you have when your child is going to start a sport.
1. Hydration: Body Armor
Making sure my son stays hydrated, mostly on this very hot summer days has been very important for me. Although we love water, we also have been looking for a drink that helps with hydration and has good flavor. It was just recently that we found BoDYARMOR. BODYARMOR is a premium sports drink with more potassium packed electrolytes, coconut water and vitamins. BODYARMOR has natural flavors, natural sweeteners and no artificial colors, unlike traditional sports drinks. It’s a GREAT choice for young athletes especially, who don’t need all the extra sodium in their diets or the artificial ingredients that come from drinking other sports drinks on the market.
Since Nico has been growing so fast, we headed to Target to buy a new swimming trunks, and other swim needs and we found there BODYARMOR. BODYARMOR comes in 8-great tasting flavors: fruit punch, orange mango, strawberry banana, tropical punch, lemon lime, mixed berry, grape and blackout berry. Many of today’s top athletes choose BODYARMOR as their sports drink of choice, including: Mike Trout, Andrew Luck, James Harden, Buster Posey, Richard Sherman, Dez Bryant, Skylar Diggins and Sydney LeRoux, which gave a piece of mind while buying it. I know it is recommended by professionals and also has a good taste. BODYARMOR has become our to go drink after his swim team meetings. My husband likes after a long day of working on the cars. 2. Sport Bag
Finding the right bag has not been easy. It has to be a bag big enough to fit a towel, change of clothes and shoes but small enough that can fit in the lockers. We finally found one the same day we went to Target to get the BODYARMOR drinks. It is Camo, which is my son's favorite color lately. I made sure it had extra pockets and had ventilation pockets for the clothes not to smell.
3. Safety (First Aid Kit)
This is super important. Band Aids are our to go item, however a compact, small but complete frist aid kit should be on every single sport bag for kids that practice any sport. Either you will use it on your child, on another child or even on yourself. Make sure to check every couple of months for expiration dates of medications and replace them.
4. Snacks
Snacks are very important. Either for your child or even for yourself. Last week I went straight from work to swim meet and I was so hungry. I was lucky enough to get fruit and BODYARMOR and then I was full. We always have granola bars, fruits, sometimes we add some string cheese and off course we have BODYARMOR available.
5. A great book
Parents, this is for you. I sometimes talk to other parents, but let's be honest. I just got out of work, I want me time. Get your book out, relax, and read that book that you have been waiting to read for months. Yes, you have at least one hour to read. Make sure you change it the book when you are done, so next time you have a new one. Although swim meet is for my son, I am glad it gives me some spare time to treat myself to a good read.
