You just made the best decision of your life. You went to the local animal shelter and got your fur-ever friend. You are ready to come home with the new member of the family. Are you prepared? Here it is the list with the 5 essential things you need for our rescued dog.
1. Food
Now that your dog is home you want to make sure to give them quality food. You want to us food that doesn’t use by-product meals, un-named meat meals. It is better to start with good nutrition to avoid allergies and digestive issues later on.
I found a great brand: Petcurean, a family-owned Canadian company that creates premium-quality pet food recipes. (GO!, NOW FRESH, GATHER and SPIKE TREATS for dogs and cats). Petcurean recipes are made with premium, nutritious ingredients to meet specific needs of dogs and cats. The company is always concerned with your pet’s safety and wants to provide quality ingredients that are sourced from North America, New Zealand, and Australia.
The product I chose for my dogs is GO!™ , a complete, nutrient-packed food with zero growth hormones, by-products, or artificial preservatives.
You can save at Petcurean by using my code PS128ZW997 and get $5 OFF of your order.
2. Leash, Collar and ID tag
Not sure about where you live, but California requires your dog to have a license and the dogs need to be on a leash while in public areas. So even before you head to the shelter to adopt your new family member you should have a leash and a collar.
Once your new pup is home and you have decided on their name, you should get an ID tag with address and phone number in case they decide to wander off your house. 3. Food and water bowls
You got the best food ever for your pup. Now you just need to find a good food bowl and water dish. I love having automatic pet feeders because in the weird case we have an emergency I want to know the dogs are not going to be hungry. We feed them manually, but the automatic feeders give them "snacks" during the day.
4.Dog shampoo and conditioner
Since you just got the dog from the shelter, you might want to give them a shower before they start getting to know your house. We allow our dogs to be on the beds and furniture so this is super important for us.
But even if your dogs are not allowed on the furniture, you know you want them clean. I also have toothbrush and tooth paste and other items such an ear cleaner for them. 5. Toys
If you do not want your shoes to be chewed then you must get toys. Balls, chew able toys, squeaky toys, you name it. I love the toys that are durable and I do not have to replace too often. I have a basket with the toys and my dogs are free to go pick up the ones they feel like playing with.
And off course you would also need a lot of love!!Win it

Spoiling a dog doesn't necessarily have to be expensive. Affordably spoiling your dog involves focusing on quality time, attention, and simple gestures rather than extravagant purchases. You can spoil your dog with love, affection, and attention by spending dedicated time playing, cuddling, and engaging in activities they enjoy. Simple homemade treats, DIY toys, or puzzles can be inexpensive yet enjoyable for your furry friend. Furthermore, providing a comfortable and safe environment, regular exercise, and proper training are invaluable ways to spoil your dog affordably while ensuring their well-being and happiness.
