This was a better week. I want to thank all of you for your lovely comments and well wishes.
We are finally getting better. All of us are still sick but recovering. Last week I got to go to the Zoo for my son school filed trip. It was interesting having 6 kids under my care at he zoo. But it was great to be outside and have my step count increase. I just think I have to find a walk parter. I enjoy more walking when I am with others (even when it was with kids. LOL) I have slow down on my diet soda drinking and I am drinking more water. I am using crystal light or others flavors for my water, but at least is water. My son and hubby leaves this week to visit my father in law, and I will be by myself for 3 weeks. I hope that I can stick to my plan while they are away. One of my plans while they are away is to clean and organize the house and also clean up our pantry. Hubby tends to buy junk so I want to have great food when they get back. If you want to suggest ideas if healthy snack I am ready for suggestions. Have a great week and thanks for ready

To all dads out there Happy Father's day. Here is a clip from Disney's BRAVE for father's day Feliz dia el padre para todos.
Aca pueden disfrutar del video conmemorativo del dia del padre de la pelicula de Disney BRAVE Until today, I had heard the name Tommy Torres just once, because he collaborated with one of my favorite artists: Juanes. However I have to admit I was unaware that Tommy Torres was a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter that has collaborated with great artist such as @Ricardo_Arjona @Juanes and @aliciakeys Besides, his talent, I also have to admit he has good looks… This year on June 12, Tommy Torres held a Twit cam to promote his new single “Querido Tommy”. The song was a suggestion from one of Torres’ fans, Paco that asked him on twitter to help him profess his love to a girl. (As an update, Paco has since, closed his twitter account and Tommy Torres does not know if his advice was effective). The song is written in a very plain language and the video is very well designed. Different to almost every song video lately that seems to be really extravagant; his video is of very high quality and very appealing to the eyes but it is also a down to earth video that express the real meaning of the song. Tommy Torres a Grammy Award winner is probably going to continue winning more awards with songs like this one. I want to invite you to connect with Tommy Torres. You can follow him on Twitter @tommy_torres or maybe like his page on Facebook, who knows, you might be featured on one of his future songs. You can also subscribe to his YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/TommyTorresWML The video is also on his web page You can also enjoy some of his previous songs: Pegadito and Como Olvidar I am sharing the lyrics of the song for your enjoyment.
Being a mixed culture family is not always easy, but it is always fun. My husband and I try to allow my son to experience the best thing of each one of our cultures (American and Colombian) and we try to incorporate as many traditions as we can to our lives.
We for example, have Santa Claus and Baby Jesus during Christmas time. )My son, 7 now, actually knows the true about Santa, the fairies, etc, so we can teach him both cultures, but he goes along with the traditions for his own enjoyment). So for Christmas we decorate with a Christmas tree and the nativity set, and he gets to open presents delivered by Baby Jesus on the night of the 24thand he gets to open presents from Santa on the 25th. We also have the Tooth Fairy and El Raton Perez. He gets money from each one of them when he loses a tooth. We eat Colombian and American food. At home we speak English and Spanish. He goes to a Dual Immersion Program so he can practice his Spanish. We try hard, but we are always looking for more ways to increase the two cultures, things that include meeting people, watching movies, traveling, etc. We have also tried to increase our son awareness for the importance of multicultural, multilingual communities. That is why when I found out about Worldwide Cultural Swap I signed up right away. What an awesome concept. On Worldwide Cultural Swap, you sign online and get assigned to a group of 5 to exchange baskets with things from your country so the kids can learn about other cultures. You can sign up for free. You do need to commit to cover the shipping cost of sending your basket to 4 other families, but I am sure that there is a lot of ways to share the culture without expending too much money and sending heavy stuff. Once we get our first basket, I will share with you |
