Why is it so hard to stay on track?

So I need to try to figure out why I have start all over again. I need to re-think the process and see that I am achieving just small weight loss and even though that is better than nothing, it is not where I want to be at.

I think clean eating is so hard. We have so many not healthy options at work, there is birthdays and lunches and sweets. And there is stress, and I eat more when I am stressed out. It is a cycle, and I need to move forward and not to stay there anymore.

Starting is not the hard part. The first couple of days, even weeks it is easy, but then life gets on the way and I either stop losing or gain a little bit more back. I need to figure out a way to get back on track and continue losing.

I am going to be back to portion control and low glycemic index foods. I think I need to keep my intake journal. I cannot wait for another 2 week challenge. I feel more motivated when I have to report to someone.

The good news, I have not have diet soda since January and that is huge for me. Now I need to concentrate on getting back on track.

Tell me how do you stay on track? Any advice would be appreciated.
Have a great week!

Perhaps you need to stop thinking of it as a track to fall off of. When we realize that each meal is it's own choice we don't get that overwhelming feeling that well I blew it might no point in continuing now. Each time we put food in our mouth it is our choice to make. Either we make the right one or not. One meal does not make so much of a difference on it's own in our overall journey. It's when we pile poor choice on top of poor choice that we have problems. You really have got this. How can I encourage you this week? Do you need a daily check in? I want to see you succeed! You can do it!

I know how you feel, I find if I make small changes at a time I find it easier in the long run.
It sounds like you know what you have to do - you can do this :) good luck x

I know how you feel Sista. Seems like I'm good for a few weeks and then suddenly one change in my life and then I'm off track again. Spring break totally killed my motivation for working out and I'm struggling to get back on the wagon. Seems strange it would be hard since the working out makes me feel so good!

I have been there SO many times before. All I can say is it clicks when your reasons click. Weight loss and lifestyle change is hard because you are literally CHANGING YOU ENTIRE LIFE. That should be hard. If you've got a "why" for doing this that is unshakeable, little set backs won't derail you.

I like how Dee put it suggesting each meal is a choice. Take it one step at a time. Even if the weight isn't coming off as fast as you'd like, think about what positive changes you made that week. It's never too late to eat right or exercise.

The mental aspect of this whole thing has been my biggest breakthrough. I started to recognize when I was making excuses and challenging my own head noise. Once I was able to identify those thoughts and beliefs that were holding me back, they lost their power. It's still tough sometimes, but I just refocus on my whole reason for getting healthy.
