Follow These Tips To Feel Better About Your Body
Are you currently in a place, both physically and mentally, where you think about your body often and want to make some changes? If you answered yes, first, you need to understand you are valuable just the way you are. The second thing to know is that it is also ok to take action and work to transform your body as you see fit. After all, it is your body. Keep reading for some effective solutions you can begin today.

Make a positive change

As time passes and your body ages or goes through new experiences, you will notice that it no longer looks how it used to. Pregnancy and weight loss, in addition to the natural aging process, can all contribute to the way your skin looks, especially on your abdomen.

If you are focusing on the excess skin or stretch marks on your stomach, it is time to look into Dr. Ho Taghva's abdominoplasty. An abdominoplasty, also referred to as a tummy tuck, can do wonders for how your abdominal area looks and feels. Some of the benefits may include:

  • Posture improvement through tightening of abdominal muscles
  • Removal of extra fat and loose skin
  • Removal of stretch marks along the lower abdomen
  • Restoration of a flat stomach
  • Feeling better about yourself

Before scheduling a surgery such as a tummy tuck, make an appointment to discuss your desired results, any potential complications, and the anticipated healing time so you know what you expect and can plan accordingly to get the information and results you want.

Maintain an active lifestyle

Any discussion about body image should include exercise. Having a body-positive image does not mean you have to exercise for hours every day to have a body without perceived imperfections. You should strive for an active way of living to be healthy on the inside and out.

Take a look at how you live. Can you set goals and make small changes such as parking further from a store? Make an effort to use the stairs at work instead of the elevator. Instead of sitting down to watch TV right after dinner, take a walk with your family first.

Of course, you should fit time into your schedule for regular exercise. If you have limited time, make it a family activity like a bike ride. Or invite your friend to catch up at an exercise class rather than going out to eat. A few simple changes in how you approach your day can make a big difference in how you feel.

Quit your vices

A lot of people have an unhealthy addiction to something, including habits that directly affect their bodies, such as smoking, vaping, or drinking too much alcohol. Overeating falls into this category, as well. Quitting these things is difficult because they are not only a habit; they are a ritual and potentially an addiction that requires professional or medical help to overcome.

Through the process of quitting these unhealthy habits, you can begin to replace them with new choices. If you enjoy the ritual of smoking, try replacing it with something else as you wean yourself from nicotine. Instead of going out for a smoke break, walk around the block with a podcast or co-worker.

Feeling better about your body is a complex process involving what you put into it every day. Seek help to make the changes you need and get help when you cannot do it alone.

Be mindful of your fluid intake

It is said that hunger often mimics thirst. Keep that in mind if you are constantly feeling hungry. The next time you feel hungry, especially if you have not done anything rigorous or it is not near your usual meal times, pour yourself a nice glass of water.

After finishing the water, wait a few minutes and decide whether you are still feeling hungry. Often, this will take care of the feeling, and you can go about your day without any unnecessary snacking.

If you tend to forget to consume water throughout the day, set a reminder on your phone at intervals so you remember to take a sip. Alternatively, invest in a water bottle with reminders and ounces printed on the side. Always carry a water bottle with you to make the consumption process easier.

Do not compare yourself to others

In this world of crafted perfection on social media, where people from all walks of life only show their best selves or their filtered ones online, it is difficult to refrain from comparisons. Always remember that people are not flawless. They have normal lives that they (unfortunately) try to hide.

You are a busy person with family and work responsibilities. Others may not work outside of the home or have extended family helping with their children. This all translates to them possibly having more time to focus on a healthy diet and an exercise regimen. If you do not have those resources for extra help, your path through life and your ability to take care of your body will be different than the next person.

This is not to say, however, that it will always be this way. As you are able, find helpers or establish different patterns to gain more time to devote to being healthier. Life does not follow a clear path, and your feelings about your body tend to ebb and flow.
