A new Smart and Final Extra will be opening the doors on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 6:00 am at the beautiful city of Arroyo Grande, CA. I was able to attend an invitation only event with another very nice blogger. The event took place on October 23rd at 5:00 pm. This is the first Smart and Final at Arroyo Grande (third one on the Central Coast), and it is the 56th Smart and Final Extra that has opened the doors in the U.S and it is located on 1464 E. Grand Avenue, Arroyo Grande, California. The first 250 guest will be given FREE SmartCash Cards randomly on the following denominations: $20, $30, $50 and $100. I arrived to the event and was greeted by Randal Oliver, the Director of Corporate Communications doe Smart & Final. He provided me with a badge and invited me to tour the store. He explained that this store is located in a very strategic part of the city and that with about 28,000 square feet is larger than a typical Smart & Final store. The Smart & Final Extra stores are designed to carry more than 3,000 items on small family friendly sizes and also have fresh produce, meats and even baby products. The event had music provided by a trio and beverages such as water, soda, sparkling cider and wine and coffee were available. There were also food stations with steak, chicken, salads and breads. Of course they also had dessert table, with cheesecake and ice cream. All the food served was great, but my favorite was the ice cream station. After enjoying the great meal, there were speeches from the executives from Smart & Final and the Mayor. There was also a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Smart & Final also took the opportunity to five back to the community and awarded $2,500 charitable donation to the Arroyo Grande Valley Little League and 2.500 to the Boys & Girls Club of San Luis Obispo. This was a great event and I overheard a lot of people talking about coming early to be in line for the store opening not only to be able to get some of the SmartCash cards, but also to start saving big with the great low prices the store offers. Be sure to stop by and shop at this great location. Check out my google + album for more pictures about this event I am a member of the Collective Bias™ Social Fabric® Community. I learned about Bento a few months ago, when browsing the internet to look for healthier lunch alternatives to pack my son for school. Let’s be real, the lunch provided at school is not that nutritious and I was looking for different ideas to keep my son interested on his lunches and make them fun. That is when I became a fun of bento, but I have to admit I am just barely learning. That is why I was so happy when I was given the opportunity to review the book Cooking with Trader Joe's Cookbook: Easy Lunch Boxes The book provides with very easy to prepare lunches not only for school but for work and even to take for picnics. The book written by the famous Kelly Lester with her EasyLunchbox System is perfect for busy mommies and all those that want to get creative and pack healthy and nutritious lunches. The book has in mind every one, and has recipes for the entire family, even with options that are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free.
