When I knew I was getting a sample to review, I knew we had found the perfect birthday present for my husband. Besides taking him out for dinner I wanted to do something special, something meaningful and the Twigtale personalized book was going to be it. Let me clarify that if you are going to buy the books for your child, they are better suited for smaller kids. I did not created the book to teach anything to my son, who is already passed that stage, we created it as a birthday present for my husband. So if you have older kids, this is a great resource for presents for grandparents or family members. If your kids are still small, then the books are great for teaching them concepts. The concept: Twigtale offers a selection of personalized books. You gather pictures (or use their photos) and edit the story with your child name. Then Twigtale does the printing and ships to you! The books are focused on early transitions (new sibling, starting school, pet loss, potty training and many more), and they also have anytime titles that help promote child development. (Who loves me, Loves, I can count) My son and I created a Daddy and Me book, to show daddy how much he loves him for his birthday. My husband really enjoyed seeing the book. The book has pictures of the family and for things I really did not have a picture I used the site stock pictures and that helps with the flow of the book. I might be creating some other books for friends soon. All books are $20 and they take a short time to make, and shipping is really fast. I have a discount code for all My Life is a Journey readers. Use code TWIG10, for a 10% discount (Good until June 30, 2014) For more information and to stay connected you can follow Twigtale on their Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and • Pinterest pages I have to tell you that the following recipe is addictive. I tried them at a Mexican fair once and I loved them. I learned later that in Mexico and some cities in the US there are some street vendors (Eloteros) that have a little car and go around the neighborhoods selling them, and all I could think is I am lucky they do not pass by my house because I will be buying them all the time. But then I realized it is a very easy recipe and I can make them at home and I could modify it to make it healthier and using organic products. And since I got some corn to use with my new corn kit, I was inspired to try a new recipe. Ingredients
Preparation Boil the corn. Once soft, remove form water and drain. Spread with the organic mayonnaise, sprinkle with cheese and the chile powder. Enjoy! Have you tried them before? What do you think? Healthy living also includes being chemical free and avoiding other toxics around you. We tend to pay a lot of attention to what we eat and we forget that the largest organ of the body is the skin and that there are a lot of chemicals that can enter your body with just contact with chemical solutions. These are my tips to detoxify your house 1. Avoid chemical cleaning products: You “clean” with products full of chemicals and those chemicals stay in your home, clothes or dishes. Chemicals that you clean with, can enter your body later. Buy chemical free products or you can make your own products. One of the reasons I loved having Zerorez SoCal coming to my house to clean the tiles is that they are able to clean only using Alkaline water without using any chemicals. 2. Avoid chemical pesticides at home. If you have bugs use natural ways to eliminate them. All those pesticides are toxic and they stay in the air for long time. 3. Avoid synthetic chemicals in personal care products and cosmetics. Natural products without heavy fragrances are great for you. 4. Open your windows. Let fresh air come into the house 5. Read labels (on products and food). Go organic and natural with as many products as you can. Start slow and make weekly even monthly changes. You will get use to the new products in no time.
