Disclosure: The costs of the events and activities for Fitcation were defrayed by sponsors, and the attendees were contractually obligated to write a summary of the experience and also received free swag items. All opinions expressed are 100% mine. Fitcation13 Day OneWe started our Fitcation on Thursday. I was called into work for a meeting and I could not wait for that meeting to end. I got on the car and drove to San Luis Obispo airport to pick up one of the attendees. Then we went to the hotel and registered. Once at the hotel we got our swag bags. OMG, I am so lucky I was driving and I could fit all the staff in my car. (I will talk about the swag in another post, coming soon) After that I went back to pick up another attendee to San Luis Obispo Airport and we drove back to down town Paso Robles. I had driven by the freeway and passed by, maybe I had stopped once or twice for gas, but I had never been in Paso Robles. What a beautiful town. Downtown is full of cute little stores full of wine, crafts, gourmet foods and also restaurants and bars. We got to visit some stores and try out cookies, sample gourmet foods and of course shop. The team from TravelPaso recommended us to visit the Pithy Little Wine Company, the Brown Butter Cookie Company and Paso Robles General Store. From there we went to dinner. I am not a wine drinker (well I like sparkling wine) so I was the designed driver. Dinner took place at Studios on the Park We got to see beautiful art pieces, have an amazing dinner and also for those drinking, enjoy some SIP Certified wine. What is SIP? well it is a certification that some California wine grape growers can take. The program looks at the sustainability of the site on aspects such as water conservation, energy efficiency, air quality, habitat conservation, business stability and social responsibility. It is a 3 year certification program, that includes audits, inspections, and the winery has to be certified again every three years. After and amazing dinner provided by FIG Good Foods of Atascadero and after getting to know more about the other bloggers, some of them went back to the hotel to rest after long travels and I stayed (as a designated driver) with another group that wanted to explore Paso Robles down town a little bit more. Then it was time to go back to the hotel. I had a great time talking to my roommate @latinaprpro until we finally went to sleep because we knew we had a long day ahead of us. Fitcation13 Day TwoDay two started with waking up early to grab breakfast and going to work out at the park. On a workout lead by @powerfitness from Deep Dig, Play Hard and then we headed back to the hotel and change for a day full of adventures. First stop was Castoro Cellars where we had a healthy lunch and learned about wine tasting with Stasi Seay of Unlock Wine. I am thankful for the grape juice I got to enjoy for being the designated driver. I learned more about SIP so besides assuring that when you drink wine that has the seal of approval from SIP the wine has the best quality on it, you are also supporting the program. So when buying wine please look for the SIP seal. Then we headed to Pasolivo. We toured the farm, we got to see the presser and learn how olive oil is made and also enjoy the sampling at the gift shop. It is amazing to learn about the process and try the different types of olive oils available. There is also all kinds of products made out of olive oil. To end out day as champions we headed to Halter Ranch. We were welcomed by the staff and walked around the vineyards and went to the Ancestor Oak, the world largest coastal oak which measures 28 feet in circumference. Then we got to see how wine is made and take a look at the wine caverns and of course some wine tasting. We ended our day with an amazing dinner provided by Trumpet Vine Catering and a presentation by Earth Foot Wear. We all got some new comfortable shoes and also enjoyed a complementary foot massage. The end of the day was amazing. After all we got new shoes...
Back to the hotel because we need to get up early to go explore Cambria and San Luis Obispo. Stay tuned for the upcoming post. I will be telling you all about day 3 and the amazing swag sponsors. Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. I am a member of the ShiftCon Wellness Eco conference board. I am writing this post to create awareness about the conference. Things are changing. We have finally realized that we need to change what we eat and we need to move (Shift) the way we do things. We owe this to our kids and family. I have been collaborating with Mamavation and helping @bookiboo to create awareness about some healthy and nutrition issues. It is really sad to see all the diseases and problems that we have due to GMOs and chemicals in our food and products we use. That is why I was so happy to learn that next year we are having an Eco Wellness Social Media Conference. Yes, a space where social media and bloggers will have the chance to learn more and share lots of things about healthy living. I have great news for you. You can buy an early bird ticket and save some money. But hurry up because there is only 40 tickets available at that rate. If you would like to purchase your ticket you can visit the ShitCon website. CALL FOR SPEAKERS!!!ShiftCon is also looking for speakers. So if you would like to apply to be a speaker fill up this form (or know someone that would like to be a speaker ask them to fill up the form) We are all part of the change, part of the revolution, part of the SHIFT... come and join us next year in Los Angeles for ShiftCon
