Nuestra visita al Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History

Para español después de la versión en Ingles

My son and I enjoy visiting different places. We like variety. Our weekends are full of activities to have fun. I always make all our activities not only fun but also an opportunity for learning.

What a best way for learning that visiting the museum. We went to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History located in the beautiful mountains of Santa Barbara, CA.

It is a small museum, which is perfect to visit with your kids, that way you are able to finish visiting all the exhibits before they are tired.

For our visit the main exhibits were DinoMania and Butterflies Alive. Both exhibits were just perfect for my son that loves Dinosaurs and also has enjoyed before being able to walk around the butterflies and even have them land on him.

If you are coming to Santa Barbara try to stop by and visit the museum. It is really worth it.

This week was so much better. Health wise we are getting to almost normal.

My son and hubby left on Thursday. It has been good not to have to worry about dinner and homework, but the house feels lonely.

I already started my cleaning plan. Oh my, can you sweat moving furniture and cleaning. I am even sore and with a little back pain, but the house is looking good.

My challenge for this week is healthy eating. With the boys gone, I do not feel like cooking, so I have to make sure I eat healthy and not just snack on not so healthy things.

I am buying fruits and veggies to have available and I am also taking some of the not so good food to work to share with my coworkers so I do not end up eating all by myself.

I am using the elliptical at night and I will be walking during my lunch break.

Got rid of the Soda and got sparkling water. Hopefully I can make it without it.

My son has always been very interested on recycling and all the things that have to be with saving the
environment. At home we recycle and he is the recycle police. We volunteer our time to help clean up the beach and we use recyclable shopping bags and container to pack his lunch.

We try to get involved in the community and look for new ways we can help our planet. A few weeks ago,
while browsing the web, actually looking for a eco friendly gift for a friend, I found a very cool and interesting
website.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a page designed to teach kids to save our planet. The program is named  Planet Protectors Club for Kids and when you register they will send you the
following:

·       An official membership certificate
·       An official Planet Protectors Club badge
·       Activity booklets for grades K-3 and 4-5

(It was originally created as a kit, but now you actually have to order the individual forms and items)

They also have a page with activities such as coloring pages and so much more.

Because at the end it is all in the family

This is the continuation of a series of post about a LEGO theme party. Part One was about the invitation, part two was about the goodie bags and today we will be talking about games and the food for the party.

We had the party at a local children museum so I planned activities and games that were short and easy, so the kids could go and explore the museum.

As the guests arrived, they were asked to write down their guess as to the number of LEGO bricks in the storage container.  Then we invited the kids to go explore the museum and free play.

After a while I had another game. I gave each child some Lego bricks and a straw. I then set up a timer and asked them to pick up the bricks using the straw, suctioning with their mouth. The winner was the one that was
able to move more bricks into a plate during the two minutes. The kids had a lot of fun with that game.

We had also Lego building contest, and free play with the Legos.

As for the food, I had pizza, veggies, and snacks for the kids. I also had chicken salad and tostadas for the adults. I had chips on the Lego container I made, and some nuts and dried fruit. I also made Lego shaped chocolates for the party.

(Some of the pictures for the food and games got deleted from the phone, so I cannot post those... sorry)

For the cake I had the Hero Factory Cake made on edible ink, with my son’s name and I also had some cookies with his name, printed on edible paper with edible ink.

The party was a success and now I had set up the tone for next year, so wish me luck.
